Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench Review

Milwaukee is known for their robust line of powerful cordless tools.  So when Milwaukee announced the release of their 1/2″ High Torque Impact Wrench, it wasn’t a surprise.  Here is what’s cool.  You can now lose the air hose.  If you are a mechanic, you will want to check out our Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench Review.

Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench Review Overview

Milwaukee has a wide variety of different impact wrenches on the market.  I love the variety because if you need a different wrench for some reason, such as a pin detent, Milwaukee has it and you don’t have to change battery platforms.

That is the one thing I love about Milwaukee and that is they cater to a wide variety of tradesman.  Even if they know a product might not sell a lot, they will still design and produce a product for those tradesmen or applications that other companies won’t touch.

While all of this is great, the true feature of this tool is you no longer have to rely on a pneumatic wrench for your work.  This high impact wrench can take it’s place.

While the head of the tool is large, it is still the most compact head in its class.  The tool only weighs 7.5 lbs and that is with a battery.

Milwaukee designed this with a brushless motor.  the brushless motor offers more efficiency compared to its counterpart, the brushed motor.  The motor delivers 1,000 ft. /lbs. of fastening torque and 1400 ft. /lbs. of nut-busting torque.  Now do you see why you no longer need your pneumatic?

Milwaukee uses a variable speed trigger to control the speed of the wrench.  As with the other Milwaukee tools, we have tested, their trigger is easy to control and keep a consistent speed.

On the base of the tool, there are three-speed selectors along with a bolt removal mode. The bolt removal mode gives the user more control when removing fasteners by slowing to 750 RPM once the fastener has been busted loose.

The speed selection is 0 to 550/1,400/1750/1750-750 RPM and 0-950/1,750/2,100/2,100 IPM.

Just below the mode selector is an LED light.  We did our work during the day so didn’t get a chance to really use the light.  When we tested it in a darker environment, it seems like all the other base LED lights we have seen on other tools.  Just okay and nothing to write home about.  Yes, it does help but don’t expect to leave your flashlight at home.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to test this on a big rig or heavy machinery.  We did take it over to Bode’s and use it on their trucks and chippers.  While I wish I had my camera at the time, this impact was awesome.

Even some of the bolts we thought we would have a tough time with because they have been on the chipper for so long, it took them off without breaking a sweat.  His F-350, it took off the lugs and really didn’t even have to work.

Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench Review Value

If you are looking to get into the Milwaukee line of tools and start with the 2767-22 which includes two batteries, you can expect to pay about $450.  If you have the batteries and charger, you can go with a bare tool for about $230.

Obviously, the value is in the eye of the beholder.  If you will be using this tool for your workload, it’s worth it because it’s made to last and has plenty of power.  If you are the guy who is taking off one wheel a year, you might want to look somewhere else.

Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench Final Thoughts

Bottom line, this is another winner from Milwaukee.  Having the ability to lose the air hose is awesome and worth every penny.  The impact wrench is solid and will last a full day worth of work, especially if you use the Milwaukee 9 Ah battery.  If you are looking for a tough tool that will get the job done, take a look at the Milwaukee High Torque Impact Wrench.

  3. I’ve been looking at battery powered impacts and your review makes the shopping a little easier. I do want the Nut Busting torque to remove bolts. and winning one would please my wife… lol

  4. this would come in handy at work – wouldn’t have to lug an air hose to work on things outside the shop(and have the power loss due to the length of the hose). Torque rating is better than a lot of high dollar air tools.
