KOBALT 12 Amp Reciprocating Saw – K12RS-06A

KOBALT is relatively new to the power tool arena and the Lowes house brand is looking to take on Ryobi and RIDGID.  We got a chance to check out the Kobalt 12-Amp Keyless Variable Speed Corded Reciprocating Saw K12RS-06A.

The 12 amp Reciprocating saw has a variable speed trigger that produces up to 2800 SPM with a 1 1/8″ stroke length.  For our tests we used the saw on some decking and general pipe cutting and it did the job just fine.  The saw weighs 9.3lbs and was able to tear through 4×4 posts with ease, especially with the 4 orbital settings.  For those tighter areas, the head of the saw rotates 360 degrees to give you complete control in any position.  The shoe is adjustable and completely tool-less.  The 12′ cord is plenty long for most applications and it has a live power light to let you know when you have power to the tool.  For $89 the Kobalt reciprocating saw is feature packed and it evens comes with a hassle free 5 year guarantee and a hard case.

  1. Im going to need a lot of convincing on the kobalt tools. If you make good tools you shouldnt need store exclusivity to sell them. I wonder if lowes will start selling only kobalt power tools

  2. Shouldn’t that be evidence of their worth? If I know I have a good product, won’t customers come to me for it? And there’s probably a Lowes located conveniently to just about everyone anyway. Their selling in such a manner may additionally be a way in which to keep the price down.. And, does anyone else offer a “5 year, hassle free guarantee”? I have the recip saw and can find anything about it to complain about.. Nor, have I seen anything as feature packed in its price range.
