Made some more progress this evening including the addition of a shelf, an extra wide drawer with 100 lb capacity and the casters. Coming along fairly swiftly now….

Hmm, Thank You for sharing this, gives me an idea for an airbrush station.  Do you have plans for this cabinet? Or can you point me to where I can purchase them?

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Hmmmmm, no plans Wigwag. I watched a couple of videos, figured out what I liked and just shot forward with my own idea. I can give you measurements for this out feed table and I should have thought to jot down a diagram but when I design shop project furniture I have never think too hard about it and draw it out. I watched Marc Spagnolas videos, some from Jay Bates and even the down to earth woodworker but I ended up doing my typical……yeah I like that but…. This one was based on two very particular needs for my shop and my Sawstop, I know I’m moving outdoors in the near future but my shop is pretty tiny so my first need was mobility and reduced size and my second was to build a table that will last a long time through the use of a removable top. I was truthfully going to go short and simple with some 2x4s and a couple of sheets of sheathing. I ended up using entirely all cabinet grade plywood for the casement and drawer. Everything sized to 3/4″. I am working on the face frame and am thinking of using some poplar I have in the shop. Although I already did the top, I am thinking about making the top larger with an lever hang to the rear of about 12-14″ and a piano hinge or solid one.

Couple more shots of the completed unit. I say completed in that the top is not done. The cabinets are complete, back has been attached with a through way top storage compartment, two unders with electronics access and 100lb support drawer. Next up, table top with some integrated t tracks. I’m also thinking about a small clamp rack on one side of the table for my 6 and 12″ clamps.

The out feed table is working awesome. I boarded up all but the upper shelf that is not equipped with a drawer. I wanted a pass through space, don’t know why but o figured may as well. I have to add two doors, one for the compressor station, the other for the tool storage area.

Looks awesome Chris!

Sooooo……

I haven’t shot a video in a while and wanted to show an actual video of a new tool I have. It’s the Lie Neilsen Beading Tool (essentially a scraper plane) that allows you to create your own custom molding.

About six months before I lost my best buddy Rufus, Samantha, my wife, sold her horse Countessa. My wife is an accomplished equestrian and (horses scare the heck out of me) was lost without Tess but she felt because we had been trying to have a child (yeah yeah….I’m old) she should sell Tess as my wife does hunter jumper riding and it is dangerous. Anyways. Long story short, Samantha got a new horse, Winters Blizzard (ironic as we didn’t have any snow….for once) and I promised to build her a tack trunk. While doing this I came to the realization that I want to do my own custom molding. So here’s the video…..of the tool in action 🙂

This tool is really amazing and will be serving me quite well in the immediate future especially when I begin building my own custom cabinets for our home.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

And the link to the video is now public on my YouTube channel. I’ve had the channel for a while but man, what a pain in the butt.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Well apparently I enjoy talking to myself 😉

i got a new light to replace the LED bulb in my shop. I was……blinded by the light, wrapped up like a…..

And being I like to shoot videos for my own personal pleasure, I took a video too….

Sorry about the terrible video but if you want a real video watch Big Bang Theory!

its so choice…..if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up…..

John GlasseyMember since Jan 2014

Are you converting the basement into a grow house? My goodness it’s a little bright lol. I have the same shop basement look setup as yours. I will try a couple out because you can never have enough light says Icarus.

They come in two lumens 2500 and 4400. $39 and $44. I got two 4400. Hope I don’t hit my head on them. May need to place them between the joists.

Nice shop Chris. Coming along very well. Must be hard to stay out of there at all. Have fun.

John GlasseyMember since Jan 2014

Hey Chris, been meaning to ask about the manual beading tool?  Was that just an attempt to make you look old school, or you don’t own a router? Going to need to send your resume down to Williams town. Hehe.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks John and Nordraw,

been busy at at work this afternoon. I’m heading to my Mom in Laws for a ham dinner! But not before I made about 8 feet of custom hand made molding!

Looks real good buddy, I do like that hand made look. ?

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

;D;D;D Thanks a lot guys! I was chuckling because I tend to fly by the seat of my pants on these things and I was lucky again that it fit!

we use those mats at work they are pretty comfortable to stand on

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Well I got the second shop light in today and wow. Completely amazing how much light I am getting. I ordered parts to build a Moxon Vise and should have everything in next week, just in time for me to go to Florida so maybe the week after I’ll be building a custome vise out of some 12/4 Poplar or some laminated Maple. I don’t want to buy more wood for this project whereas I could use some great species I have in the shop that have been curing for quite some time. Anyway, I will post some pics of the soon, and tomorrow I’ll be assembling the tack trunk. Fun fun fun!

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks to my Wife and Mother in Law messing with things in the kitchen and living room I found a reason to make a second pantry. This one will be roughly 76″ tall, about 11-15/16 deep and will have adjustable shelves. I designed the idea in my head, as usual. So….what does that mean? A disaster. But I got to play with one of my favorite tools and set ups. The Festool OF1400 router with the LR32 and a Midi vac. The victim….3/4 Birch veneer plywood….

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Well Protool. They’re not necessary. They just  make things faster, easier, smarter. Hey….? Isn’t that their slogan?

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Not only that you can achieve a straighter cleaner cut than with a circ saw due to the track, good if you don’t have a table saw for ripping down sheathing or if you have your table set up for dados or what not
