So some of you guys that have been around for a while have seen pics of my dark dank basement woodshop. The weekend before last my father in law, Larry, and I moved out laundry machine, dryer and freezer from the largest open are of our base, met to my woodshop. I did a 4′ PT drop board every four feet to anchor the new PVC line that is longing the wall from the far gable end where the appliances once were to the other gable end. This is allowing me a much larger are to play in. Today I got some OSB, some more concrete anchors and some PT studs 4′ long and added the first four panels. I would take pics but….all of my lighting is on the other end of the basement. He fully this weekend I can drop a bone and a half on three new style LED shop lights and get them installed.this is a big deal for me as I was never afforded the opportunity to do this before. My wife is liking the new walls and pretty soon my MFT will be up, my Kapex station will be underway and my New DW745 will have a bench to hold it. It’s still a dark post war basement but….those panels made it seem a whole lot brighter (of course I painted the ). Super stoked!
awesome I’m excited for you….lol
Don’t make it look to nice, the wife will snatch it up. Can’t wait to see finished product.
Congrats man! Excited to see some pics
Awesome to hear bro I know ur gonna hook that mancave up!! Can’t wait to c the pics chrisk. Hey did u ever figure out why pics wouldn’t down load from iPhone?
No I can’t figure it out other than to say the site only allows small file sizes of 4.41kb. For some reason I used to be able to upload pics all the time and in the last few months no more. I have been doing links to photobuclet (one of the members suggested).
photobucket ok cool gonna try that bro and once again congrats on the new shop bro!ChrisK1970 wrote:

File compressing software or apps is the only luck I have had.
I’ve been trying the apps too but for some reason……meh. I’m not sure what the problem is 🙁
are you guys viewing the site in a mobile version or full site?
I use my ad to post in both full site mode and mobile and it only allows a 4.41kb download. I can’t get my pics any smaller on the suggested web sites.
I use a photo resizing app and it has worked so far. With this one you can make the photo to whatever file size I want. I have used it for all of the engine pictures.
Nicholas, what app are you using cause I tried batch resizer and it doesn’t work for me. It’ll shrink the photo down but it doesn’t affect the file size.
Hey .. Take a look here
Tools in Action – Power Tool Forum → My control panel → Settings → Manage Attachments
We all got about 10 MB space and Chris you have used it all my friend.. So remove old pic… And you can upload again
The app is called autoresize. I have resized mine to around 75 kb and it has worked so far.

I think you nailed it, I was loading a pic the other day and it said to big……..so I went off site but when I read your post I see mine is 99.5% full leaving a very small amount…….
Thank you KWC!!!!
Your are welcome..!
Oh wow cool KWC!!!!!! I’m gonna try that right now
Got to work downstairs for a few hours though you would never know it. I built a scrap wood Clamp rack. Step 2. Got some clamps up, have to build another but this will get stuff off the ground. Really simple, ripped a piece of 3/4″ plywood with my TS, cut several 7″ slots in it. Glued and screwed (Kreg) a support rack, did a quick jig on the Kapex cut a bunch of vertical supports, Kregged it up, through some deck screws in and viola. It still looks like a freakin’ Tijuana Abortion Clinic on a Monday morning after Fiesta down there 🙁
Freakin chrisk man LOL ur comedy bro!!! Take your time man I know it’s gonna come out badass!!
I hope it comes out okay Mike. Still a dark dank basement and I can only frame in part of the concrete foundation for access reasons but believe me, it’s going to be just great for me! I’ve wanted to do this for years and just being able to move over is awesome. I cleared up some of my pics and will try to attach a photo of the mess that is my little shop!

Samantha bought me two Dewalt XL clamps for a “stocking” stuffer. They are awesome clamps!
You should look in to some T-5 HO florescent lights I have a little 4ft one in my laundry room and its pretty amazing. If you get the right lighting down there it will help with the dark feeling of the room. Looks good so far Chris!!
lighting can make a huge difference, also while you have the walls open run a dehumidifier (if you don’t have AC) you would not believe how much better it is after a few days even in winter/colder months……
Yea it’s pretty crazy how much humidity can make a difference in how you feel. I have noticed if its damp and cold out its way worse than normal it just seems to get to your bones more so. This winter so far has been awesome compared to last years.
Loooookin good!!! Not a bad size bro.
The humidity in the summer in Missouri is somewhere above 75 percent most of the time. There is a huge difference when there is a day with no humidity. The air temp can be 90 but it will feel like 110. My aunt that lives in Arizona came out to visit family and she could hardly take the heat.
We’re doing some forum upgrades in January and the picture size issue is on the list

Hey Comp, so I am adding three fluorescent lights but…I just found three different LED style lights at Lowes. They are pretty reasonable, not as cheap as the kits but max out at 65 for the two bar LED light. I will put those in as I have a junction box I can piggy back those off of. I have a family related electrician coming in next month to upgrade the house to 200 amp and I will have him run a new series of outlets into the shop. In my old one (on the other side in an l shaped corner) I added to fluorescent lights and six outlets. I’ll have a decent amount of light there in no time! Problem will be as it always was, getting plywood downstairs and projects out. I have to tear down plywood before going down the basement steps and projects have to be smaller than 4′ width or final assembly is outside! It’s funny about the humidifier too. I have two that I run all summer cause it is so humid in New England but during the winter months it’s drier than a bone, interestingly I have had some project wood down there for over a year and it hasn’t warped.
Somehow u guys beat me to picture thing, was poking around and figured it out. Oh well, hey Chris looking good. Sometimes the process seems so slow. I know when I was getting windows in shop, it just took forever.
Sounds like you are getting there. Nice to have a dedicated shop for wood working. I do with a one car side of a three car garage. Have fun with it.
Went to Lowes today for the LED lights….sold out 🙁
Made some headway in moving stuff over. Not even close yet but I figure out where the Kapex, Planer and DW745 are going. They Dewalt saw is on a temporary couple of saw horses and a piece of plywood til I figure out if I’m going to buy a stand or just put it on the last shop table I built. The table the Planer is on will probably be a permanent fixture. Additionally, I was dicking around with my large diameter anti static hose (don’t ask….saw that pic of the VS model and the snow blower, was down in the basement by myself…Barry White was playing…..) attached to my Kapex and Midi and it fits the Planer perfectly. Perfect position for both tools. I’ll be able to chop of 12′ material as well as plane smaller boards and have DC right there. Electrician should be in this month to up the amps to 200 service and I can install lights as soon as they’re in. I also figured out a place for the free weight cage and Bowflex in my old work area. I have the guide rails for my track saw temporarily hung on the half wall I built and will work on a final layout.
sucks that the led Lights were out man I hate when that happens… On the other hand bro I bet u can’t wait to finish the shop man, U got some nice Lookin tools in there already!
ur shops looking good 🙂
Thanks guys. It’s a layout. I think I’m happy with it except where the MFT is located. I’m note of I want it there or in the middle so I can walk around both sides. It’s actually quite a bit of room for me!
That and I’ve got to paint or do something with the walls!
Nice layout Chris, keep plugging away at it.
Looking good man!
Hey chris I know this is a long shot but ask yourself
how long do you plan on living there and having where you are as a shop?
reason I ask is maybe just maybe it might be a consideration to blow hole in one of the walls and add a door to have direct access? just a thought…….
Thanks for that Comp and I won’t put it off either. I have a bulkhead on the table end of my house where my small shop was. Ends up, it is cracking. I talked to my neighbor, Guy, who happens to be a retired Union concrete guy as I wanted to fix the cracks but maybe lengthen the actual bulkhead so it is not as as steep. This way I could get 4×8 sheets downstairs a little easier. The bulkhead is really the only opening I want to have as it is ideally located on the table end. I have a cape but the layout is opposite of most, my front and rear entries are on the gable ends not the length of the house. My lot is flat and level (not at all unlike my first girlfriend) so having a walk out isn’t possible. I’m probably going to stay at least four years quite possible longer (Samantha wants to move to Florida….me not entitle so much…guess who will win? Hint….not me).

I guess if you replace the carrot with… Lets see a some Festool product.. The donkey will move:-D
Hahahahahaha yeah that’s the truth KWC. Looks like,Gods waiting room is in my future 🙁

why is it that all women want to move to florida?!?! mine talks about it all the time, im holding firm for now but they sure do have their ways! we already head down there at least once a year, mostly durring winter.. i dont mind that, and as the years go on ill probably start staying longer but i dont ever see myself staying down there for more than a few months a year and that is far, far into the future..
congrats on the new project, you’ll be glad you have it.
I’m lucky on that one, the wife did the whole Florida thing before we met. Wants nothing to do with it.
Well guys, my Mom and Dad and my brother Jeff and his family live down there. Throw in the fact Samantha is an equestrian and she loves the horse ranches out there (dunnellon and Ocala) and let’s face it….I’m doomed. I’ll be down there without an AARP card! WTH?!?!?!?!!?
Awesome looking shop Chris. Having a basement is like significantly increasing your man cave square footage.
I guess it could be worse, she could love Alaska. 6 months of darkness, -140 degrees., outhouses.
