Studpop

We always like to feature products made in America here on Tools In Action.  The Stud Pop is made right here in the USA.  It is a simple device for finding studs in walls.  It uses a magnet to find the stud fasteners and when it detects them the center indicator pops into a 90 degree angle.  This gives a positive easy to see indication that it has found a fastener and fasteners are usually fastened to studs.

For metal studs it is a no brainer and easier and faster to use than an electronic stud finder.  The Stud pop has a 1/2″ depth detection through plaster, sheet rock, tile and lathe.

  1. What! My dad used this trick with magnets back in the late 70’s & early 80’s. It was such an easy trick that I still use it today. The bad is that it’s not fool proof (nothing is). That is why I got my Franklin Stud finder (love this thing). Anyway, why didn’t I think of this? As you guys know, I’m always looking for cool little gadgets to test & maybe use. If my dad was still around I would get him some of these & tell him he was on to something back then. Laters TIA

  2. Yeah, I remember seeing similar magnetic based stud finders that would make a magnet stand up straight on a pivot when you found a nail. That was back somewhere in the 70s. Still a good idea and I’m happy to see an American made product.
