Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review

When it comes to circular saws, we are always looking for the most powerful, the biggest, the baddest saw on the market.  However, sometimes we don’t need that.  It’s overkill and sometimes we don’t need all that power and all that weight.  So with that said let’s take a look at the Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review.

Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review Overview

I have been remodeling my house and currently putting an addition on the house.  Before this, I always wanted the biggest, baddest saw on the market.  After working on the framing and more, I realized that sometimes, I need something lightweight and easy to use.  That’s when I discovered the Makita XSH032Z.  I have been using this saw and absolutely love it.  While it’s small and lightweight, it’s extremely powerful.

I can’t tell you how many times I climbed a ladder with this saw to make a cut.  That is where this saw shined.  It is lightweight, I could climb and cut higher places and still feel safe.

The saw is designed around a brushless motor and delivers 5,000 RPMs. The saw only weighs 7.3 lbs with a battery and has a dimension of 13-3/4″ long. The saw has a cutting capacity of 2-14″ at 90°.

The saw is powered by the Makita 18V battery. The battery features a four-light LED status to let you know how much charge is left on the battery.

The saw uses a D-Handle design with a rubber over-mold for comfort.

The shoe is an all-metal die-cast magnesium plate and has a smooth bottom so it doesn’t get caught up on anything. Even the guard is magnesium which lowers the weight and increases the strength of the tool.

The front measurement tool is easy to see and read.

The tool features a foldable hook that allows you to hang the saw up when not in use so you are not laying it on the floor kicking it around.

One of the best features is the automatic speed change.  If the saw needs more power, it will adjust the torque and RPMs.  When it doesn’t, it will lower the power and save the battery.

Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review Performance

As I noted earlier, I love this saw.  I love the power but most of all, I love the weight.  I always grab for this when I am making high cuts.  Heck even when I am cutting on the ground, this is the saw to have.  Sure it’s only a 6-1/2″ but it’s the perfect saw for so many different jobs.

I used this to cut 2×12, I cut the ridge vent and numerous other cuts when framing.  When I moved to frame the inside of the house, this was the primary saw along with my Milwaukee miter saw.

If you don’t believe me, check out the reviews on Amazon below.  4.5 out of 5 stars.

Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review Value

You can pick this up on Amazon for about $150 which I think is a steal.  For the weight, the power and the ease of use, you can’t go wrong.  If your framing or cutting in higher places, this is the saw to have.  Even for groundwork, the saw shines.  It will give plenty of 7-1/4″ saws a run for their money.

Makita Cordless Circular Saw Review Final Thoughts

The bottom line, this saw is great.  I really have nothing to complain about.  The saw is well balanced which means when I am making a cut and I finish, I am not trying to control the saw when I am up in the air on a ladder.  I love the power as it is a workhorse.  If you need a lightweight, powerful saw, this is the saw to own.

  1. Thanks Eric for the in depth review of the Makita cordless circular saw. I have other Makita cordless tools and have relied on them for years. As I don’t currently own a cordless circular saw, this article will definitely stay with me as I really like the fact that it’s so lightweight. A bit smaller yes, but still a big value. Thanks again for the great read and pics!
