Keen Work Boots – Top Notch Quality

12

Not too long ago we took a look at Keen work shoes.  I have to admit, I have never heard of them before, but after wearing them, I am a huge fan.  The shoes are good quality, durable and comfortable.  Today we are checking out two new work boots, the Detroit Mid Boots and the Pittsburgh Work Boot.

KEEN MEN’S DETROIT MID

Keen Work BootsWhile these work boots are steel toe, you would expect them to be heavy.  However they are very lightweight and also extremely comfortable, two important qualities in a work boot.  Each boot only weighs 24.7 oz.  I am not good at math, so not sure what both boots weigh together.  The boots are waterproof, so no worries about having wet feeties during the day.  Obviously these are designed for construction use, so Keen added a couple key features to these boots.  They are Electrical Hazard (EH) and oil resistant.  The lining is Hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort lining and the bottom of the boot is oil and slip resistant non-marking rubber out sole.

– Contoured heel lock
– Dual density compression molded EVA midsole
– KEEN.DRY ™ waterproof breathable membrane
– Left and right asymmetrical steel toe
– Lining with hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort technology
– Meets or exceeds ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 I/75 C/75 EH standards
– Oil and slip resistant non-marking rubber outsole
– Reflective webbing for additional safety
– Removable metatomical dual density EVA footbed
– Torsion stability ESS shank
– Waterproof nubuck leather upper

METATOMICAL FOOTBED DESIGN
This internal support mechanism is anatomically engineered to provide excellent arch support and cradle the natural contours of the foot.

LEFT & RIGHT ASYMMETRICAL SAFETY TOE
Uniquely anatomically correct steel, aluminum, & composite toe designs provide a roomier toe box and maximum comfort. Meets ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 I/75 and C/75 Standards.

KEEN MEN’S PITTSBURGH

Pitts

The Pittsburgh is another great work boot.  As with the Detroit, this boot is also waterproof to help keep your feet dry throughout the day.  Asymmetrical steel toes improve the fit, and a full-length stability plate adds support.  These boots are a little heavier than the Detroit as these weigh 30.9 oz per boot.  They have the same protective features with Electrical Hazard (EH) and Oil resistant, along with a steel toe front.  The upper part of the boot is a waterproof leather and a Hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort lining.  The rubber sole is both oil and slip resistant along with a non marking benefit.
– 90 degree heel
– Dual density compression molded EVA and PU midsole
– KEEN Key-Tech™ full length TPU interlocking torsion plate
– KEEN.DRY ™ waterproof breathable membrane
– Left and right asymmetrical steel toe
– Lining with hydrophobic/hydrophilic 2-zone comfort technology
– Locking metal hooks and lacing eyelets
– Meets or exceeds ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 I/75 C/75 EH standards
– Oil and slip resistant non-marking rubber outsole
– Reflective webbing for additional safety
– Removable metatomical dual density EVA footbed
– Waterproof nubuck leather upper

If you haven’t tried Keen before, I would highly suggest taking a look at them.  They are extremely comfortable and have the quality to last years.  Keen isn’t a company who takes their footwear lightly.  They design a great product from the ground up.

  1. Yep, new brand for me when I saw the vid, always loved my Redwings, tho. Used to cheap it when buying work boots, now I have bunions (not necessarily from cheap boots) to take into consideration, and comfort comes first. Thanks guys

  2. my tires ..dewalt wrench composite toe shoe oxford black…craftsman waterproof hiker blk/red/silver steel toe work boot..cool video…keen not famior with .seem like nice tires.cheers tia

  3. Yea I’m with ford on this one, they have more options, I like the timberland pros, they have a very good water proof boot. They are nice though they just don’t fit my needs.

  4. Since having composite toe boots I don’t think I can ever buy steels again. If you do any work outside in a cold climate, the temperature difference is massive- once the steel gets cold your toes are the same the rest of the day. Composite is lighter as an added benefit
