EGO Nexus Revisit

Electronics have become a huge part of our lives, especially smartphones.  More and more we rely on these portable electronics for communication, directions, our safety, and at least a thousand other things.  While they are great, most of them are powered by a battery.  Usually, this isn’t an issue however when we are out or gone for extended periods of time this can be a hassle. So what do we do? This is where the EGO Nexus could come into play, and so we felt it was time for an EGO Nexus Revisit.

If you have been following us, you know we have reviewed this before, which you can find in the link below.  But for some reason, we have been receiving a ton of messages about what is the best portable power solution. I am not sure if more people are camping, tailgating, or just hanging outside but for whatever reason, it’s awesome to see people out.

So this article is an EGO Nexus Revisit.

EGO Nexus Revisit – Still a Good Buy?

So is this something we still recommend?  Well, it depends.  I know there are a lot of options on the market, but for quality and power, you can’t beat it.

I really like external batteries because if I’m going camping for instance, I can take three or four pre-charged batteries and just swap them out as needed. But for electronics with an internal battery, like my phone, when it’s dead, it’s done; no option to swap out batteries. So unless I can find an outlet or other power source I’m out of luck. This makes having portable, external power sources a must.

The EGO Nexus is substantial (5″ x 7″ x 3″, and 10 lbs), so if you are going to be at a game and want something that fits in your pocket in case you need to charge your dead phone, this probably isn’t it. For this, I would go with something like the 12V Milwaukee USB rechargeable power source because it’s small and lightweight, or another small, external charging option.

So if you want a serious power option for outdoor camping, tailgating, or long-term power, the EGO is the top dog in my opinion.  I like having the 120V outlet and two USB ports so I can charge a phone and tablet at the same time.  Plus I can plug in a light, a router if my power goes out, or hundreds of other possibilities.

Bottom line, for power and quality, I still haven’t found anything that comes close to the EGO Nexus.
