ROBOPAKS – Extended Power for Your Tools

14

Recently we told you about the battery adapter that will allow you to exchange battery packs between brands, sorta.  Well  meet the Robopak, a big ass battery pack that allows you to run your tools in remote locations for extended periods of time.  The downside is that it makes your cordless tools corded.  You still have the freedom to take the power anywhere but you need to run a cord to the battery pack.

Still, there are advantages to this setup like the ability to do away with your different batteries and to give you extended power in a remote location with no AC power or generator available.  You could however get an inverter, a corded power tool and replicate the same setup with the only difference being you need gas and can’t run indoors.  The Robopak works with DeWALT, Milwaukee, Makita and Hilti tools.  They also run lights,

Robopak claims to give you up to 6x more runtime than a standard battery. But with todays 5.0 battery packs you really only need 2 or 3 to have all day runtime. Todays battery technology may make the Robopak obsolete. Check out their website here.

  1. Wao but to kind of to late right!? But better for those that don’t have a generator or inverter in the car. TIA TOOL BAG GIVEAWAY 4TH OF JULY!

  2. Now if only there was an adapter cord that would enable cordless tools to be plugged directly into 120V power in lieu of a battery, that would be a great alternative. Giving older tools a new life when their batteries die would be great.

  3. It looks like they don’t have any of current battery pack adapters. It’s a great idea it looks like they need to update the tech to have more amp hours to be relevant in the market. Another company had a backpack like device but its only 5amp hours and you have to wear the whole big back pack. The tool companies have made these products obsolete with the 5.0 and soon to be release 6.0 ah battery packs. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/ULTIMATE-BATTERY-POWER-UBP5000BK-DW-CH-/22-14564

  4. Site is current as of ’15, looks as though they provide to GSA with “special issue kits” that our tax dollars pay for anyhow, I don’t see anything special about this system other than how obnoxiously bulky and outdated the tools are, along with over compensating pricing. The impacts rated for “Abrams battle tank kit” are super low, I’d be surprised if USA military isn’t already using m18 fuel impacts and 3/4- 1″ hydraulics. Overall a poor shot at Innovation by the looks of it.

  5. Dan, I made something like this to run my 18v dewalt tools off of my m18 redlithium batteries, it was way more compact and simpler than these and I just put it together in the garage with an old battery some scrap wood and some metal.
