Milwaukee Heat Gun Review

Heat guns are one of the overlooked power tools.  It’s an important part of a tradesman arsenal, but you rarely hear someone bragging about their heat gun.  Usually, it’s some old beat up tool that is a no name brand, kind of like glue guns.  Milwaukee is changing that with their new heat gun.  So let’s jump into the Milwaukee Heat Gun Review.

Milwaukee Heat Gun Review Overview

A heat gun is something that hasn’t changed much over the years.  It has a cord, you plug it in and wait about 3 minutes for it to heat up.  Then you find out while you’re working, you need more cord to reach a little farther.  So you turn it off, grab an extension cord, plug it back in and wait again.

Well, Milwaukee has a new solution, the cordless heat gun which runs off their M18 battery platform.

You can buy this as a bare tool or Milwaukee also offers accessories for the tool depending upon your application.

Milwaukee Heat Gun Review Performance

I have to admit that I love how fast this gun heats up but best of all, I love not having a cord get in the way.  During one of our projects, we took a room down and covered up the door.  We used the heat gun to dry the mud quickly, so we could put another layer on before we left for the day.  While it would have been nice to have a temp and fan setting, it did do the job.

We had a valve that was stuck.  Here is where the heat gun was extremely nice.  No cord to mess around with.  We fired it up and the gun was hot in about 10 seconds.  We were able to break the valve loose.

Milwaukee Heat Gun Review Value

You can pick this tool up as a bare too for about $120 at The Home Depot.  In regards to value, it’s not too bad for someone who is looking to lose the cord and have a quick heat gun that will get the job done.

If you want more features, personally I like the Wagner 750.  It’s half the price and allows you to not only set the temp but set the fan speed.  However, you still have to deal with a cord.

So in the end, it’s what is important to you.  Do you want to lose the cord and lose some features or do you want a cord with more control over the tool?

Milwaukee Heat Gun Review Final Thoughts

All in all, this is another great addition for Milwaukee.  I love how fast this gun heats up and love not having a cord get in the way.  While it’s a little pricey and lacks some basic options, it’s a great heat gun for those who don’t need to adjust fan speed or control temperatures.
