Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife

When it comes to job site utility knives, Milwaukee is the leader.  It all started with the Milwaukee Fastback utility knife a while back.  While Milwaukee has introduced other versions over the years, the first knife is still a fan favorite for the size, weight, ease of use, and durability.  While it’s a fan favorite, Milwaukee has a newer addition to the family that takes it up one notch or at least 6 notches.  So let’s take a look at the Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife.

Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife Impressions

As with most, I am a huge fan of the first version because I like the size, ease of use, and simplicity.  However, the one downfall was it didn’t store extra blades, so that was an inconvenience at times.

Milwaukee had a solution and they came out with another version that stored extra blades.  While it solved a problem, one thing that I and others didn’t like was that it made the knife wider.  Still a great knife but it lost some of that feeling.

So now we jump into this version and I think it’s the best version yet.  Not only does it store an extra blade, but it doesn’t make the knife wider.  Plus it also has other features such as the screwdriver, wire stripper, bottle opener, and more.  Best of all, even with all of that, the knife isn’t wider.

The knife is easy to work with, feels comfortable, and is a true utility knife.

Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife Wrap Up

When it comes down to it, all the Milwaukee Fastback knives are great.  However this is my favorite because I like the size, the extra blade storage, the added features but best of all, it’s still a slim and durable knife.  Great job Milwaukee.

  1. For me, the biggest difference between the original fastback and the second version is that the original one is longer and supports a bigger hand better. This revised design looks as short as version 2 so I will take a pass. The feel of the original knife is superb.

  2. I just want to say that I use all types of tools and brands, and so far Milwaukee has been tougher and lasted longer than any of the others. This utility knife fits great in my hand, and does not allow the blade to slip out. I can easily change it out when it becomes dull. The Phillips is also great for me, because I don’t know how many times I have forgotten a screw driver, and this save me in a pinch.
