KEEN Utility Boot Review

Keen Utility Boot Review

Most tradesmen are on their feet all day long.  At the end of the day, our feet, ankles, knees, hips and back end up hurting.  While the correct boots can’t take away all the pain, they sure can help.  Some of the pain we get throughout the day can be attributed to our workwear, our boots.  The pressure transfers from our feet and upward to our bodies.  Plain and simple, have the correct boots and help alleviate some soreness.  So let’s check out the KEEN Utility Boot Review.

KEEN Utility Boot Review Overview

Now before we jump into the KEEN Utility Boot review, let’s be clear.  I am not saying this boot is for everyone and can help with everyone’s pain.  When it comes down to it, you have to try different styles and different manufacturers to see which boot works for you.  I know a couple of guys who swear by Wolverine boots.  However, for me, they end up hurting my feet in the long run.

I use to be a huge fan of Red Wing boots.  I still love them but over the years I have found much more comfortable shoes like KEEN Utility boots.

So again, you need to find the best boot for you, but a good starting point would be KEEN Utility boots because they offer a wide variety of boots and they are specifically designed for the trades and people who are on their feet all day long.

KEEN Utility Boot Review Features

Keen Utility Boot Review

The KEEN Utility Baltimore boot is a 6″ boot with steel toe protection.  The boots are designed with waterproof leather and a breathable membrane.

One item to note about the steel toe is that they are left and right asymmetrical.  Most companies use the same steel toe for both the left and right which can be uncomfortable.  Lucky for us, KEEN doesn’t do this.  They design each steel toe insert for your left and right foot.

The boot meets ASTM F2412-11 and F2413-11 EH standards.

KEEN is known for their wrap over rubber toe.  Look at a tradesman boot and the first thing you will notice is the wear and tear on the toe of their boot.  This is because of kicking things, dragging your toes and working on your knees.  The rubber toe helps add durability and longer life to your boot.

The boot is double and even triple stitched for durability.

The one feature I love about KEEN is the beefy tread on the bottom of the boot.  With this, you get great traction in all sorts of different environments.

The boots feature four closed eye loops and a sturdy lace.

On the top of the boot, there are two quick lace holders which make getting your boots on and off much easier.

On the inside back of the boot, there is extra padding to offer more comfort.

KEEN Utility Boot Review Performance

These boots are fantastic.  They are completely waterproof, but most of all, they are breathable.  Walking on hard or soft surfaces, these boots are up to the task.

Keen Utility Boot Review

We have been wearing KEEN for the last couple of years and love how comfortable they are.  Sure we wish they were a little lighter, but we have seen heavier.  Considering everything they offer, 25.9 oz isn’t too bad.

KEEN Utility Boot Review Value

You can pick these up on KEEN’s website for about $150.  Workboots tend to be a little pricey so for $150 I think it’s a great deal.  Considering that they are comfortable and offer protection, it’s worth the price.  The question is how will they hold up in the long run?

In the long run, we are confident that they will hold up since we have been wearing KEEN for the last couple of years and they have been great.  However, the most important aspect is all the testimonials out there.  Time and time again we hear people talk about how well their boots hold up even under heavy conditions.

KEEN Utility Boot Review Final Thoughts

Bottomline, KEEN is the real deal.  If you want a quality boot that is comfortable, protects your feet and offers a little style to your life, KEEN is the boot to pursue.  The Baltimore comes in three different styles and KEEN has a ton more to choose from.  Seriously, who doesn’t want a reasonably priced and comfortable boot?

  1. They look like good boots but I can only wear above the ankle black boots with a safety toe at my job. I’ve been buying Magnum Ultra-Lights for a few yrs now, very light which is great since we walk all day long on cement. But I had to return the last 2 pairs that I bought because they fit way too tight in every dimension. I would love to try Keen out but they won’t meet my companies specifications for approved foot wear.
