My mini Wera screwdriver review

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

I have a dewalt set that Parker Tie gave me to try. They are good. But you can’t beat on them much. Or the bit goes inside the handle. And then you will have a stubby screw driver instead. Lol

Is wiha and wera made by the same company? I was just wondering because there names are kinda similar. I don’t have to use screw drivers much in construction. Building houses. Usually just a impact is all I need. Or the hammer drill.

I don’t think so, I have some wera torx l keys that are made in Czech Republic (pretty sure) and I want to say my Wiha terminators are German, don’t quote me though…

Ok. I think the wera are designed in Germany and made in the UK or somewhere near there. Or the wira? I’m not positive I just think I heard that on that video someone posted earlier. The one that said don’t watch. And maybe ther is just a manufacturer there in UK? I’m very interested in both of them. And I like the ones that have a place to put pliers. I needed that a few times. Just had to use vise grips. What ever works right. Lol

Wiha is made in Germany with their pliers made in Vietnam, Wera is made in the Czech Republic.

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

I just looked them up. You beat me to it. Lol

Wiha also has factories for other stuff in Switzerland and Poland and Vietnam.

haha. Understandable confusion, actually all the big German brands screwdrivers and bits feel or look rather similar outside of their handle designs.

I think that’s only some of their electronics stuff, the have bags and pouches stuff made in China too….nothing really note worthy, outside of pliers, made outside of Germany, in my opinion 🙂

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

Weras tools headquarters are in Wuppertal Germany. And has other subsidiaries in the UK and north America onterio Canada. And factory in the Czech republic.

No sir 😉

Everyone needs at least one or two drivers bro 😉

Just wait one day when you have kids and a wife asking you where stuff is hehe.  To be honest one of my favorite screwdrivers I use all the time for convenience is a Greenlee combo driver. I got several of them from when I was going thru electronics courses.

In the machining/mechanical assembly fields   You get to use all sorts of tools.

That is a screaming deal on those! I thought about buying them but I don’t need them and know it will just lead to me buying the hex sets, haha.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

My Wera screwdrivers made it today and so far I’m very impressed. I like the grip and I think it will allow mr to put more torque into the screw. They grip and fit great too. I haven’t used the flat head ones yet. The lazer tip seems to provide more grip the harder you turn the screwdriver too. We are going to hit it hard in the shop this year at school so I guarantee they will see some use.

Nice! U got them Nicholas I’m gonna order on my next check bro

I drank the kool aid and I liked it. I have been wanting to upgrade my screwdrivers for a while now. I primarily use Phillips and these seem to be great. You are going to love them Mike.

Glad you like them. Always a fear of mine that when I recommend something it doesn’t live up to other peoples expectations. [emoji1]

I heard that if you get oil or something on the handles that the green or yellow parts of these styles of handles oil will make it fall apart and make your tool box or drawer smell bad. Have you guys had that to happen? Or is this someone hateing on them for no reason?

Miller

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

I think it was oil that they said done it? Or\and gas?

Miller

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Gas will deteriorate a lot of materials over time, I think a lot of guys had issue with Klein screw drivers for that reason.

I have seen some mechanics post pictures with their Wera screwdrivers having what looked like dry, deteriorating rubber…not often at all. Haven’t seen any specific posts talking about it, think it’s just abuse and harsh chemical cleaning. I clean my tools if they every get chemicals on them and if they start to look dirty, I start with simple soap and water, if that doesn’t work, I step it up slowly. If it’s pliers or something else I have to worry about rust, I use WD40 as the light “cleaner” …though WD40 isn’t really a cleaner, it works very well as one on metal.

FazzmanMember since Apr 2014

I use WD-40 to clean all sorts of hand tools, starrett tool and instrument oil works great on almost everything, its very highly refined so no bad stuff in it.

That is nuts man. I don’t know how they are able to do that considering how big they are.

More pics and thoughts on the Bitcheck please!!! I just bought the Felo bit ratchet but that Wera looks damn nice.

Yeah definitely thinking about getting that bit check set. Looking forward to seeing what you think.

After playing around with both the Kompakt and BR30 around the house today I’m totally impressed with both. The Kompakt feels so good in my hand and I love the “removable bayonet blade.” I was even impressed with the iPhone like packaging it came in. The Kompakt will definitely be replacing my Klein as my go to screwdriver.

The BR30 is equally as impressive. The whole set up was definitely well thought out. All of the bits are super high quality and I’m afraid to use them because I don’t want to lose any!

Santi_78342Member since Jul 2015

I should note that the set i picked up isn’t exactly like the one in the video above. Mine doesn’t have those gold bits and instead includes 4 Robertson and a slotted bit.

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Nice little wrench, I have one, not a wera, but they come in handy
