Glad to see there are FINALLY Gen 2 M12 Fuel drills/impacts. Any pics?

Bmill25Member since Jul 2015

Yeah the storage looks cool. I’m interested in the specs of the M12 Fuel gen 2 tools. Can we expect power similar to compact 18v tools? The gen 1 got pretty close with the impact.

HiltiWpgMember since Sep 2015

Pretty disappointing M12 Fuel Gen2 lineup. Barely any change from old version. Same goofy upward pointing nose and the sloped back that doesn’t fit your hand quite right when you tighten your grip!

The storage stuff looks awesome though, looks like the hit the sweet spot between the Tstak and Tough System!

Ok, I am the first to admit when I am wrong! I spoke too soon!
The impact is shorter with multi mode!
Now I am impressed!

Any idea when Milwaukee usually releases the specs and dates they go on sale?

Influencers on Instagram will revisit all the stuff they’ve seen in further posts over the next while and generally are good about giving specs and dates (quarters at least lol).

What I got from today.

Milwaukee had zero answer to FlexVolt and has decided against updating battery technology for now.

Milwaukee furthers their amazing lighting solutions. Plumbing and electrical trades get some fantastic updates. Carbide, carbide, carbide!

supposedly September

I like how there are half width boxes. Would be cool to see a half width box that fits all your 1/4 drivers/bits

Anyone else notice the seemingly lack of 9.0 hd stuff? Most of the stuff I watched used 5.0s. It didn’t seem like there were any battery advancements or HD tool advancements. I’m surprised and yet not surprised at the same time. You would think they would want to redo their take on HD tools and provide a glimpse of something at NPS17 considering Flexvolt and X2 are in a league of their own. You could also look at it they realized their take on HD tools was not as good as Flexvolt and X2 and showing something off at NPS17 would be rushing the replacement and may not be as good as if they took their time to get it right.

That stapler though. I really could’ve used it today. It was insulation day today. It sure looked compact bout as small as an air stapler I use. I’m curious what the other guys will provide for staplers. Kinda hard to make something that compact with a slide pack.

Anyone see an m18x2 miter? Seemed a bit surprising that one wasn’t announced considering a couple guys at work supposedly tried one. Maybe it wasn’t ready and may be at an event later this year or NPS 2018?

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Yeah, really seemed to me that they don’t have the tech this year or don’t want to invest the resources to properly take on FlexVolt and expand market share and they instead decided to absolutely hammer down on their core trades, which isn’t a terrible strategy. You don’t want to go out on a limb for conquest customers and leave yourself open to bleeding your core market.

Things I’ll be buying before NPS18:

gen2 Fuel high torque impact wrench

carbide Big Hawgs

 M18 Fuel Hackzall

M12 Fuel ratchets

Maybe pile is gen2 M12 Fuel combo, M18 Fuel 7.25″ mitre, M18 heat gun, M12 soldering iron, and M12 stapler.

@Jronman think how many of the current mitres they have in the retail distribution channel. A year to sell more of them rather than admitting they stumbled is likely up their alley. I was shocked to see no expansion of OPE. Next year will likely be 21700 cell battery blowout with X2 tools out the wazoo.

I like Milwaukee storage cases…I like the “click” seem nice…bullshit test as you guys have said…..if I’m Milwaukee I’m dropping a block on Dewalts toughest case to compare…….

……Red stick over Stabila….No

……new vacuum? Looks nice

……compare to Flexvolt ..No

….. didn’t see OPE …I was wrong

…..new rocket ship light…No and No to Dewalts ….

…..One Key…keep it..keep tool connect too

…..Didn’t see 2 battery tools ? (except the rocket ship)

Did I miss anything Revolutionary?? ….it’s a nice show,

Took a quick spin through Twitter and looked like the big news was the M12 stapler…. Milton would be so “excited” for a red stapler like that!

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Milwaukee doesn’t roll off the tongue the way Swingline does though lol

the stapler and modular storage were best announcements in my opinion. Most of the other stuff just seemed like upgrades.

M18 Fuel Hackzall was long overdue.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Doesn’t the hackzall vibrate like the Dewalt compact recip…?

BiggieMember since Oct 2016

Any info on the m18 gen2 high torque impact wrench? Is the Size and weight any different than the gen 1?  Is the 1400ft/lbs a nut busting vs the gen 1 1100ft/lbs?

The.HandymanMember since Aug 2015

Framer joe wrote:

It does not. I have the brushed version. This claims to have much less vibration than the brushed.

When I bought my hackzall the first cut vibrated like crazy. I was a bit disappointed but it worked so oh well…then I bought Diablo Carbide blades for my Sawzall, I started using them in the Hackzall and it didn’t vibrate excessively anymore. I ended up buying the Fuel hackzall and that is great as well. Point is, buy good blades.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Ya I’ve seen it on TIA video…an m12 version looked powerful compared to Dewalts 12v recip……didn’t kno if vibrated a lot

1000 fastening, 1400 nutbusting. Haven’t seen info on size and weight but I’d imagine same ballpark.

So Big question is……..when is Dewalt?.SBD show ? Next week ?

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Do you guys use those m12 wrenches 1/2″,3/8″,1/4″ …they look cool..don’t know if Dewalt has any ….

BremonMember since Dec 2014

I have the 3/8″ ratchet, don’t use it much but quite like it. Dewalt doesn’t have them, not very slide pack friendly.

SBD show is next month apparently. Dan mentioned it today I believe

I recently bought one they’re pretty handy but I don’t use it as much as I thought I would I still prefer a impact wrench in places I can.  I’d like to see the specs on the new fuels maybe they have more torque?

BremonMember since Dec 2014

They do; 45, 55, 70 ft lbs for 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 respectively.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Thanks….not much use framing, with those m12 wrenches but look handy for a mechanic…def use the impact wrench 899. at work installing truss locks,lags ..but the 899 is no longer king…………man I hope Dewalt brings it’s A game next month…perfect opportunity to expand its line of 20v and 60v max tools…..a  barrage of tools would be killer…

Makes me wish I hadn’t bought one yet.  My right angle impact wrench only has 60 ft/lbs.  But my ratchet and wrench are only 3/8″ so I might have a good excuse to get a 1/2″ fuel ratchet.

I saw some pictures of the gen2 high torque and it looks like it might be a little shorter but it also looks bigger in diameter.  But it’s a tough sell for me being that I don’t use the my current high torque that often.

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Yeah I’ll likely sell my 3/8 or my parents will inherit it into their M12 collection lol. I’ll just start with 1/2″ and see how I like it though.

BremonMember since Dec 2014

You’re a good man Jimbo

jtkendallMember since Dec 2016

I’m really disappointed with the tools announced, there were several that are upgrades that I do want. As far as new tools I’m interested in they are:

  • 7-1/4″ Miter Saw
  • M12 Soldering Iron
  • M18 Heat Gun
  • the fixed blade hardline knife even though I can’t carry it off my property because MD limits it to 3″
  • M12 Underhood Light

Updates I’m interested in are:

  • One-Key High Torque Impact Wrench
  • M12 Ratchets
  • M12 Impact Driver
  • M12 Power Source

I really wanted to see a table saw, track saw, compact router, tire inflator, and push mower. The lack of OPE is especially surprising, I was hoping for a push mower but was expecting maybe a sprayer, a chainsaw, or something. Table saw and track saw I expected so they could compete with Dewalt, the router made sense seeing as both Ridgid and Ryobi have them, and a Milwaukee version of the tire inflator would have been nice. I wanted the tire inflator to chuck in the car bag with the gen 1 high torque impact wrench. Guess I will be buying the Ryobi one, which is fine since I want the glue gun and sprayer.

DeWalt has a lot of 20v and 60v to release. You shouldn’t be disappointed.

Now if I can just get them to invite me.

I’d definitely love to be invited,,…but I’m not a “yes man” I’d criticize and show where improvements should be made….

So is the 1400/1000 ft/lbs on a 3/4 drive? No reason for that much torque in a 1/2 drive. Just going to be a lot of people breaking shit.

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Whoever comes out with either a 2x18v or 60v 1″ drive impact wrench with 2500 ft/lbs gets my very limited $.

interesting occupation you put down there LOL

I do like that m12 stapler……..

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

I’m totally pumped for the new m12 power source! I don’t want the new one b/c I don’t need to charge a battery on the go but I like this b/c people will be selling used (over priced, imo) power sources!

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Lol @BMack37 I’ll be buying the new one ? USB charging would be ridiculously convenient for me.
