Milwaukee comes out with a lot of new and cool tools each year, but this one strikes me as unusual.  Not saying it’s not cool, practical and useful.  Unfortunately Milwaukee doesn’t make a lot of woodworking tools, I wish they did because I am pretty sure they would dominate the market.  While a planer is great for doors and other jobs where you need to take wood material away, I am pretty sure a lot of woodworkers will rejoice with this tool.  For me, this is a much needed tool to add to their M18 line up and will get much use out of this.

We first had a chance to see this tool at the Milwaukee media event and was one of my favorite additions this year.  As you know it’s part of their huge M18 line up.  Milwaukee designed this planer with a frameless motor that has a no load speed of 14,000 rpm’s.  As I am sure you already know by the title of this article, it also has a planing width of 3-1/4″ with a max depth of 5/64″, with a rabbet depth of 27/64″.  The tool itself is easy to operate and move around.  I like the fact a user can decide if they want to eject the chips on the right or left.

If you’re in the business of hanging doors or working with wood, this is a nice addition to anyone’s tool arsenal.  Backed by Milwaukee’s 5 year warranty and their large line of tools, it’s a great planer to own.
