Ridgid Vacuum

What can I say about Ridgid?  I like to call them the hidden gem of the tool world.  I think there are a lot of people in the world that overlook them.  All most every tool we have tried for them is high-quality tools.  In fact, when we have tool fights, Ridgid is always one of the top performers.  So with that said, today we are going to look at the Ridgid wet/dry handheld 18V vacuum.

The Ridgid vacuum is a wet vacuum which means it can pick up water or other liquids.  As you can see, the canister is small so don’t expect it to hold much.  I think for spills, you probably won’t grab this for wet pick up, even though you could.  My guess is the wet pick up for this tool would be great for spills on carpets or in your car.  It won’t dry the area, but it will suck up the excess liquid and help it dry quicker.

In regards to dry pick up, this bad boy shines.  The suction is great and run time on a 5 Ah battery is incredible.  The system has a two-stage filter, a prefilter, and filter.  Clean out the canister and filter is nice and easy.  In fact, I really like how the canister fits onto the tool and locks.  The way it locks, it will not unlock until the user actually wants it unlocked.  Some handheld vacs we have seen, the locking mechanism is awful and if you bump it the right way the canister will fall off, but not with the Ridgid.  Cleaning the filter is also extremely easy.

With this kit, you get a short hard nozzle, a crevice tool, and a floor cleaner.  Surprising enough the floor cleaner does an awesome job.  The one thing that I am a little complexed about is that you only get one hard suction tube.  This is great for people under 5′ tall, but for the rest of us, we will have to bend over a little.  It would have been nice to see a flexible hose come with this as it would allow for more cleaning options, but it might be an accessory they add down the road

Overall another win from Ridgid.  I love the power and run time to this vacuum.  Since Ridgid has a strong line of 18V tools, it makes sense to invest in their line and this is a nice addition.
