Introduction
Most oscillating blades that come in a tool kit are toast after a nail or two. Home Depot sent our editors a few Diablo accessories to try, and the one that blew them away was the nail-embedded wood oscillating blade. This video was sponsored, and our editors said it doesn’t change their opinion.

What the DOU125BW Is
Diablo calls it the 1-1/4 in. Demo Demon universal fit bi-metal oscillating blade for nail-embedded wood. Diablo says it has an ultra-hardened cutting edge for up to 5X longer life than standard blades, a curved contact edge for cleaner plunge cuts with less vibration, and a Black I.C.E. coating to protect the cutting edge. It has a 2 in. cut depth.
In the Shop
Our editors said they went through 10 to 20 nails and the blade still worked. Dan remembered remodeling a 1924 house and going through blade after blade. He said this one would have been a lifesaver.

Their advice: let the tool do the work. Push too hard and the material can start moving with the oscillation and fight the cut. Beat on any blade, like smashing it into black pipe, and it won’t last as long.
Fit: Universal, Not Starlock
Diablo says the universal fit design attaches to most oscillating tools without adapters, including tools from Bosch, Craftsman, DEWALT, Dremel, Fein, HART, Makita, Milwaukee, Porter-Cable, RIDGID and Rockwell. It is not compatible with Starlock tools. Diablo also offers a Starlock version if that’s your system.

Our editors also tried Diablo spade bits, which they said fly through wood, and a multi-material hammer bit set for drilling through brick, wood, tile and some metal. Browse more oscillating tool reviews, accessory reviews and our Diablo coverage.
Final Thoughts
Our editors called it the best oscillating blade they’d used for nail-embedded wood and said they’d pay a premium for it to save time and blades. Just check your tool first: it won’t fit Starlock.
FAQ
Is the Diablo DOU125BW Starlock compatible?
No. Diablo says it fits most oscillating tools without adapters but isn’t compatible with Starlock tools. Diablo sells a Starlock version separately.
What is it designed to cut?
Nail-embedded wood, plus hardwoods and softwoods.
How deep does it cut?
Diablo lists a 2 in. cut depth.
How do I make it last?
Let the tool do the work. Pushing too hard or hitting hard metal like black pipe will shorten its life.
