Okay, I was wrong, I admit it. According to my wife, that wasn’t the first time or last time. Apparently I am wrong a lot, but that is another story. I know you are wondering what the heck am I talking about. How can this guy actually be wrong. I know I was thinking the same thing. Okay, sorry back to reality.

Okay, is the suspense killing you? Probably not, but I am still going to tell you why I was wrong. In my opinion Milwaukee has the best line of 12V tools and no one comes close. However, I thought Dewalt had the best 12V, not based on power, but based on the feel and balance. I was never a huge fan of the Milwaukee torpedo batteries. I just preferred the flat pancake style batteries that Dewalt offered. As time went on I really began to appreciate the torpedo system batteries. As I found myself trying to get into tighter spots, the torpedo style batteries just offered much more flexibility and I was able to get into tighter spots, that I just couldn’t get the Dewalt in. So that was the first thing I was wrong about. I actually really like the Milwaukee style batteries. Okay, here is the huge thing I was wrong about, the Dewalt drill. I can no longer say that the Dewalt is the best 12V drill. After using the Milwaukee M12 Hammer drill with the optional XC high capacity battery, nothing comes close. If I could only own one 12V drill, it would be the Milwaukee 2411-22. In fact I don’t even know why Milwaukee is making the M12 Driver, M12 Screwdriver and the M12 Drill/driver. Actually I know why Milwaukee is making these as they are very useful for different applications, but I hope you get my point.
I am sure you want to hear more about the specs and what makes this hammer drill so good. All right here it is, this drill only weighs 2.8 lbs and is 7-5/8″ long making this the right tool for those tight spaces. The motor puts out an incredible 275 in-lbs of torque making this tool the right tool for almost any job. Believe it or not this drill even has an all metal 3/8″ ratcheting chuck that spins at 0-400/01,500 rpm using one of two speeds. The drill has a whopping 22,500 bpm, that is 375 per sec. The last two items are an on board fuel gauge and an LED light.
Okay, we have already determined this drill has some serious power for a 12V and is my favorite 12V drill. But you are probably wondering how we came up with this conclusion. First this hammer drill only costs $160. To have this type of power in your hands is worth the cost. You are now able to have a small 12V for small concrete applications and more. This means you can lighten up your tool bag. We are not saying this will replace your 18V hammer drill, but it sure will allow you to do more without having to bring out the 18V for every little application. Second is the ability to have your preferred type of battery. If you are getting in tighter spots or don’t need the extra capacity, the torpedo style battery that comes with this kit is perfect. But if you want a little more juice and a little different feel, the optional XC high capacity battery is worth every penny which does cost around $60.
We are going to make a bold prediction on this drill, but we feel this is going to be one of those workhorses that just works. It will be one of those tools that a majority of people own and love. We don’t think there is much room for improvement on this tool.
