This is a tool that has been out for a while. As you know Milwaukee has one of the largest 12V lines. Not only do they offer a large line, but this line has a ton of specialty tools for a variety of different trades. Milwaukee looked around and saw a need for an easy way to cut plastic pipe, so they designed the Milwaukee 2470, which will cut through plastic pipe.
Do you cut PVC, CPVC, PEX Tubing, BlazeMaster, ABS, Non-Metallic Conduit, and Rubber Hose on a daily basis? If so, there is a whole new way to get the job done. The Milwaukee 2470 will make your life much easier. One great thing about this tool is how easy it is to use. With a press of a button, you can cut up to 2″ schedule 80 PVC pipe. Not only does it make a quick cut, but the cut is clean. It’s basically a clean cut with no burrs. Once you make the cut, the blade will open fairly quickly to allow another cut. Yes, it’s a 12v tool, but don’t let that fool you as it harnesses 1,900 in-lbs of torque. Speaking of battery, that is my only complaint. While I love the 12v battery, I just wish Milwaukee would include their newer 2 Ah battery instead of the 1.5 Ah battery. Not a huge deal since you should get about 200 cuts per charge. As with their 12v line, the batteries don’t have a fuel gauge status. The fuel gauge is located on the tool, so you will always be up to date on the battery level. Don’t worry about working with pipes with water. Milwaukee designed this tool with a stainless steel blade and aluminum jaw which will make it impact, water and therefore rust resistant.
I have to say the speed of cut and release are awesome. This is a tool that is designed for production. If you are doing a bunch of cuts, you don’t have to worry about the tool slowing you down. The Milwaukee 2470 will be able to keep up with your pace of work. This is just one of those tools you will be thankful for that Milwaukee didn’t just design a tool to cut through plastic, but also an easy to use and durable tool.

This is not the tool for everyone, but if you spend a majority of your day cutting plastic pipe, this just might be your tool. Not only will it save time, but it should hold up for the long run. Milwaukee designed this tool to be easy to use, quick and clean cuts, just what you need. While I wish they would update the battery that comes with the tool, it still does a great job for a 1.5 Ah battery. Bottom line, this can save a lot of time and frustration.
Sweet little tool, was just talking about this on the forum, a m18 version with ability to cut bigger PVC would be sweet! #TIACREW
The tool works pretty good, just make sure the pipe isn’t cold or it will crack. Also watch your fingers.
