Features & Performance Review
I’ll be honest, this Hilti cordless miter saw has so many features that I could just sit here and bore you as I review each one. The Hilti video above is a great summary of the features. But I am going to tell you about what features stood out to me.
22V Nuron Cordless Power
Miter saws are powerful and even as the power tool shifts to cordless, many miter saws are still corded. The Hilti Cordless Miter Saw runs of the Hilti 22V Nuron battery. If cutting 2×4’s Hilti estimates one charge should provide you with around 450 cuts.
Variable Speed Dial
The Hilti Cordless Miter Saw has a 6 speed variable speed dial that ranges from 2,000-4,300 RPM’s. This allows users to adjust speed for added control or when cutting different materials, such as aluminum.
Forward-sliding Rail
Miter saws are huge bulky machines. The most annoying thing about their design is that often the sliding rail slides back so you can’t place them flush up against a wall, which is frustrating because a lot of miter saws are corded as well. This makes it a nightmare to place them somewhere convenient.
The Hilti cordless miter saw has a “zero back” forward-sliding rail, which gives you a lot more freedom when placing the miter saw somewhere it can function. The convenience of this immediately stands out to me.
Heavy-Duty Construction with User-Friendly Design
As much as I enjoy this cordless miter saw just sitting in my garage, it is made to be taken from site to site. At 60 lbs. the miter saw is fairly lightweight, the stand itself is maybe 10 lbs., and the saw and stand together are designed to be easy to adjust, use and transport.
When something is designed to be lightweight, portable, and adjustable it’s common for the construction quality to take a hit. Not in this case. The stand is a heavy-duty powdered coated steel with welded construction. The miter saw has a similar high-quality construction despite being a more compact design. It’s going to hold-up to rough and heavy use.
Value
People have been comparing the Hilti Nuron Cordless Miter Saw to the Makita Cordless Miter Saw (XSL06PT-R). Many remark that it looks and functions similarly. However, there are a few key differences.
The Makita without the stand sells for around $590. Yes, this is a cheaper saw. However, it’s only a 10 in., the Hilti is 12 in. Hilti estimates about 450 cuts on a single charge while the Makita can only make 334 cuts and requires two Makita batteries. While Makita has a great cordless miter saw, it just doesn’t stand up to the performance or capacity of the Hilti Cordless Miter Saw.
Like most Hilti products, they are expensive. However, they have the power and construction quality that’s needed in the high-demand construction settings they are used for.
TIA Final Review: Hilti Nuron Cordless Miter Saw
The Hilti Cordless Miter Saw is an awesome saw. I know many people would say all miter saws are the same, but I thoroughly enjoyed using this one. As a Hilti product, I knew it was going to perform well, but the convenience and user-friendly design and adaptability to whatever I’m working on is that makes it stand out to me.
The Hilti Nuron SM 60-22 Cordless Miter Saw fits in perfectly with Hilti’s 2024 lineup of tools. We have done quite a few Hilti reviews this year and all of them have provided unique innovations. It makes me excited to see what tool releases Hilti is ending the year with, but even more excited to know what the brand hopes to bring in 2025.
