Greenworks 24V Drill/Driver and Impact Review

17

It wasn’t until lately that I started hearing about Greenworks.  In fact, I never heard of them until you guys started emailing us about them.  Then we ended up seeing them at the GIE show in 2013.  I have to saw I was pretty impressed with their line of lawn and garden tools.  We watched them use the chain saw and had a chance to look at their mowers.  While we were there, they told us about their new power tools coming out, the drill/driver and the impact.  At first I thought to myself, great just what we need, another company trying to enter the market with a drill.  After playing with them and seeing what they could do, I was very surprised.  It didn’t seem like they were taking this entry lightly.  The tools actually seem good.  The more I thought about it, the more I felt this was a great fit for the homeowner.  For me it seems like more and more homeowners are going away from gas powered products and turning to battery operated products.  Let’s face it, a homeowner isn’t working everyday with their drill or other lawn and garden tools.  What better way to reach the consumer who wants to just have one battery line.  Even me, I would love to have one battery line instead of four or five.  I would love to be able to mow my lawn, weed whip, hedge and use a drill all with one battery.  Well it looks like now you can with the Greenworks and the more I am learning about Greenworks, the more I like the direction they are heading.

The drill/driver and impact both feel very nice and both have some great power for the homeowner.  These tools are run off their 24V line which also means you can expand into other lawn and garden products and just have one battery platform. The battery status gauge is located on the battery itself which I like better.

Both the drill/driver and the impact really impressed me.  If you’re a homeowner who is looking to go cordless and doesn’t want to deal with gas, etc with their outdoor equipment, take a look at Greenworks.  Now that they offer a drill/driver and impact, you can save yourself a lot of aggravation by owing just one battery line.  Bottom line, this drill/driver and impact won’t disappoint you.  They are solid, feel comfortable and will get the job done.

  1. The impact looked way more impressive when you showed it in action compared to the drill. The drill sounded like it was about to have its overload protection kick in. The impact though looks like it has some power though.

  2. Resemble Rockwell brand stuff to me, sold by Menards locally. They claim lifetime battery replacements for free. Very limited line of tools but the drill and impactor look very similar to these here and appear well made.

    Impressive torque spec on impactor.

  3. Amazon has the drill by itself for 75 bucks and the combo kit for 199. They look good but would like to see if they make it to the brick and mortar stores or just remain as an internet buy.

  4. Just bought the set up at Costco, already have a couple Makita set ups, but, for the price of $99.00,,a four year warranty im thinking will be a great addition!! Go green!! Yay Costco!!!

  5. Just got Costco set of drills for 99+tx. Charged and ready to go.
When I release the trigger on the drill (not the impact) I get a loud clicking noise. Does anyone else have that issue?
