Any of you all run across Grip-on? Living out here in the sticks I don’t see much of them and was wondering if they are trash or treasure. Read about their portable vice gadget on another blog and would be interested in hearing some opinions on the brand.
They seem to have a lot of cool locking pliers type gadgets from flaring tools to Christmas tree holders. They appear to be made in Spain.
Amazon link for the portable vice gadget in question. I would have posted a link to their website but it is a flash and pdf hell website.
a short video
When you said Grip-On it sounded very familier. I ran across a Grip-On product not to long ago but I can’t recall what it was. It’ll come to me eventually.
Grip-On is a Spanish company who makes locking pliers not only sold under their own name, but also Snap-On. They are also about the only option for new locking pliers that are not asian, These are made in Spain.
That’s where I heard that name! When I was researching the Spanish Proto locking pliers. Thanks for jogging my memory!
Got a pair of the vice grips and they do not break.
They make great welding grips too.

Do you know for a fact that Klein is not making their Klein-Lok in the USA?

Do you have the painted or nickel plated versions? If painted are they rusting a lot?
Not painted but no rust pal.

Thanks, that is good to know, I may find myself investing in some in the not to distant future.
Looks like Proto makes a Locking pliers holder as well
I’m not sure what the hell that thing is and I’m not positive exactly what it’s used for, but I am certain that I want one.

It is a holder for locking pliers that turns the locking pliers into a pseudo-vise.

I could see having a bunch of them for holding sub assemblies of a larger project at the ready, could be real handy at the welding bench.
I must have one
Don’t be too hasty buying grip-on and I was so upset buying this on-line…This cool search engine web might help you comparing similar products.
