Just pondering which 18v impact to purchase. Would love to hear the pro and cons of both.

I quickly realized the m18 second generation fuel was the right choice for me 2753 is model number. I’m really liking this controlled fourth mode on the drill, using sheet metal screws all day, and it’s automatic in slowing the impact way down when it needs to. That’s normally not a problem but I didn’t realize how much it became an asset until I start getting into tight cramped areas where I’m pushing on the impact at a crazy angle and trying to get the screw thru the material and it suddenly breaks through, and I’m not prepared for that and it won’t let me strip the screw out.

I would go with the m18 but if you need to keep the sound down then the ridgid

you also might want to consider what other tools you may want to add in that battery platform, because it never is just an impact it will be other tools added eventually …….you don’t want to have to many battery platforms to deal with unless you have to.

Good vid Jimbo!!

Sound isn’t an issue but the rigid technology sounds pretty cool. The Milwaukee line does have many other tools compatible with the m18 battery.

Makita also has an oil impulse driver (along with a large number of tools on the 18v platform). If you check out toolpig on Instagram, he has done a number of comparisons with the oil impulse driver versus other drivers. It actually performs very well despite its low torque specs.

Thanks everyone. Just purchased the 2897-22 kit.

2897-22 is the kit I have. It is a great set of tools. After you use them, you will be buying more red tools.
