Anyone heard anything about the high torque impact wrenches coming out in a gen 2 anytime soon? I want to buy one but I can wait if it’s coming out soon

I sort of doubt it. The high torque wrench already tests out with like 1100 ft lbs of torque and can easily shear off bolts. How much more would you want? I could maybe see a OneKey version coming out next year to let you dial in a specific set of parameters, but I’m not aware that they’ve announced anything yet.

I honestly don’t need more than the current one and even that one is more than I need. But if a new one was set to come out soon I was thinking it would be worth the wait

I heard from a guy who knows a guy that high torque impact wrenches are already developed with one key that you can dial the torque into a specific number from your phone. I don’t remember release date specifics but it will be some time in early 2016.
Doubt it I believe this is their second version of the fuel

I see what you want here, if your gonna put out any money you want the newest one available at the time of purchase……which makes sense, wouldn’t want to buy a tool this week and next week the newer model comes out yours is instantly the old one……If and when a newer one comes along doubt it will have to many new features to make that big of a difference.
I would imagine we would see new High Torque wrenches at some point this year. I bet they will be smaller and more powerful just like the new compact impact wrenches. They will probably be shown at the new product symposium sometime this summer.
Yes I agree with Jason, if Milwaukee comes out with a gen 2 high torque impact, it will more then likely a one key ver. But yeah that thing is a beast as far as torque goes. I don’t see them Adding more to it!
If anything they would have a different gearbox giving a “2nd” gear to it, other than that your either at 100 lbs or 700 lbs, at least for the hog ring, other variations have a higher first gearGlasseyi wrote:

Edit: a middle gear that is somewhere in the 400 lbs range
See that would be something I would like a middle option would be nice I think I’ll wait a month or so and see if anything pops up

Dewalt dcf 899 has almost the same specs but it has 3 speeds price point is about the same as well

Just get a set of torque limiting extensions from HF. Less expensive than a new Milwaukee impact and faster than messing with your smartphone.

It have all sorts of impact drivers, not the fuel gen 2 but I have the new dewalt which is just as powerful.

I like that dewalt I’ve looked into it but I already have a couple of tools from milwaukees m18 line so I am going to try and keep them all the same so the batteries can interchange

The only thing I’d like from the 2763 is a mid-torque or higher low-torque setting. It takes a long time to get to 100 ft/lbs when it’s on low.
A 2763 with One Key would kick ass. Well, more ass than the 2763 already kicks. I saw a demo of the One Key hammer drill. I had no desire to own one, but once I saw the demo, I’m really excited about it. I should’ve never doubted Milwaukee.
I’d be happy if they made a smaller 2763 with the same power at more of an angel like the IR impact to fit in tighter spots
Just go with the dewalt it bust some nuts. We always need that next new tool.
I wouldn’t mind adding the Dewalt to my tool line but I just can’t justify the purchase at the moment or maybe I can…….chadlanthier wrote:

When the one key version comes out you will be able to change speed and torque independently.electromage wrote:

Not trying to sway anyone away from the 2763 cus I love mine but CPO has the take $20 off when u spend over $100 Dewalt
Not a bad deal, whether you get the Dewalt or the Milwaukee you will not be disappointed pretty much identical in specs just depends on your color.

Ended up just getting the Milwaukee tool only to save a little money and be able to buy one of their compact impact wrenches also soon

Nice purchase dude, you’ll be happy!
nice snag on picking the Milwaukee….
Only used it one time for a castle nut on a buddy’s side by side but that wasn’t even a challenge for it on mode 2 on mode 1 I gotta say it feels pretty damn weak

Would mode 1 work for running lug nuts home then using a torque wrench for final tightening? That’s what I do with my Bluepoint air impact at leastjorge52892 wrote:

Yes, that’s what a one key mode would be great for as well.

Just as long as you didn’t run it down to the max torque on mode one. Unless of course your wheels need more than one hundred ft/lbs.KnarlyCarl wrote:

Or you could bypass the whole torque wrench and invest in a twenty dollar torque limiting extension.
I’ve heard that those torque sticks only work with an air impact and not a cordless impact. I don’t know if tgat is true or not though.Stercorarius wrote:

That’s the first time I’ve heard that. I looked it up and from what it sounds like is most electric impacts are too fast for most torque sticks so the torsion action of the stick can’t respond quickly enough. Basically what it comes down to is that whether your impact is pnuematic or electric doesn’t matter, you just have to be sure the stick is rated for the speed of your impact.NicholasShetley wrote:

Yup it would be perfect for that on my truck. The trucks lug nuts require 130-150 ft lbs of torque if I remember correctly so mode one would get me close enough to it to finish off with a torque wrench

Max torque in mode 1 is 100 lbs for the hog ring anvil, I think it’s higher on the detent pin.

I wish you would have told me sooner. I already bought a set of torque sticks to use with my 2763.
I used the 2763 & a 110 lb torque stick to adjust my HF click torque wrench. I thought using a torque stick to tighten a nut then adjusting my HF torque wrench to break the nut loose at the same pound setting would make the HF torque wrench fairly accurate. Now I’m going to have to break out the air impact and use it with the torque extension to see if it is at the same poundage.
With you doing that, you can tell us if it is true or not.redmed wrote:

That method won’t work. You have to overcome inertia to move the nut, so it will take more than 110 ft-lb to break it loose. You also shouldn’t use a torque wrench as a breaker bar, as it were.

I had thought that tightening to a specified ft lbs then loosening that same nut would be a different amount of torque but don’t know of a more accurate way.

there is a lot of science going there more than I can explain……

A more accurate hack way of doing it in the garage would be to set your torque wrench to 60 lbs or whatever and hang a dumbell from it that is 60 lbs. Let the weight of the dumbbell move the wrench instead of you. Still difficult to get right, but it would be closer than seeing what the breakaway torque is.

Yes that would probably be pretty good. Thanks.

So apparently, yes, one is coming sometime, but all i’ve heard mention was the fact that the electrical terminals on the current impact wrench aren’t spring absorbed to take the vibrations when the battery vibrates around a little. I guess the gen 2 model will address that.
@NicholasShetley ^^^ This is all I know right now. ^^
I got it from a gentleman in Canada over instagram, there are a lot of up to date tool stuff there!!
LIKE THIS BAD BOY!!! YEAH BUDDY!
But… it’s about $700.00
