Rank your M12s

Trying to think which of the M12s to get next. Rank the tools you have or want. Top ten, top two, top 50, I don’t care how many. Right now at the top of my wish list is the 3/8 fuel impact.

Daniel JulianMember since Dec 2015

Here is what I have/had in ranked order….

1) 1/4 hex fuel screwdriver

2) 3/8 hammer drill

3) 3/8 drill driver

4) hackzall

Ranking m12 is tough because I have m18 models of all of these, so the m12 just always feel lacking, especially the hackzall.

unclebudMember since Dec 2015

All I have are the gen 2 fuel M18’s, but am interested in getting into the M12. I will start out with either the 1/4 or 3/8 ratchet and go from there.

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

I love the 1/4″ fuel impact driver, great little tool.

LoganMember since Jun 2015

Heated jacked I love mine

comp56Member since Sep 2014

this is a trick question as all my m12’s are ranked no.1

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

I really want the Fuel versions of he Hackzall and Drill/driver, I like my non-Fuel versions a lot so naturally I want the upgraded versions. I’d also like the M12 jigsaw. Still haven’t decided after returning my malfunctioning M12 oscillating tool whether I want the M12 or M18 oscillating tool.

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Yea I want the fuel hackzall for sure

Until I get the fuel m12 hackzall the 3/8 fuel impact wrench is my number 1

KnarlyCarlMember since Jan 2016

For me the only way to rank them is order of use- most to least, I can’t say theres a best to worst ranking, I agree with comp they’re all no. 1…

M12:

Used most 1/4″ impact driver

Flashlight

Heated jacket

Propex expander

Copper tubing cutter

Pvc pipe shear

Multi tool

Hackzall

3/8″ ratchet

Caulk gun

Right angle drill

Palm nailer

Vacuum

M-spector inspection camera

Grease gun

Rotary tool

Least used 1/4″ hex driver

I could do with a couple more m12 tools lol

Its like buying a full size pick up with a  v6, 2 wheel drive and a stick shift.

With that being said I pick it up for like 75 bucks and it cuts nice, buts its a very basic saw.  No variable speed, no orbital, but its not a bad little saw, its small and pretty powerful, I actually cut some letters out for stocking hangers all with that saw and they came out pretty nice.  Its good for quick cuts when I don’t feel like pulling my bosch out but if you want a really nice cordless jig go bosch.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

don’t forget the m12 scissors, if you hold a m12 battery in one hand and use the scissors in the other it will cut better…just sayin…..

3/8″ impact wrench Fuel

Impact driver Fuel

Hammer drill Fuel

Hackzall brushed

Right angle drill brushed

In order of most used to least

Want:

OMT

Fuel screwdriver

Rotary tool

European market 1/2″ impact wrench

Ratchets 1/4″ and 3/8″

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

So my buying list is

1. 3/8 fuel impact wrench

2. Right angle impact $100HD

3. Right angle drill( combo deal with wrench $200 HD)

4. Vacuum $60

Stuff that I’d buy but can’t get myself to:

1. Stick light. At $80 bare tool it is twenty more than my 20v DeWalt stick.

2. Spot light: $70 bare tool it is more reasonable but still $10 more than the lantern.

2. Fuel impact driver, screw driver and hammer drill. Already have the full sized dewaults and m12 3/8 drill/driver.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

I wouldn’t mind a new m12 LED or two

Here is my M12 list so far:

1: Fuel sds rotary hammer drill

2: Fuel 1/2″ impact wrench (eu only at the moment)

3: Led lantern/flood light

4: Polisher/sander (haven’t used much yet)

5: Fuel circular saw (absolutely bottom pick, haven’t found any real good use to it yet. It seems to struggle in any material, even 12mm plywood)

Well I guess it doesn’t have any more torque than the 3/8 so I can live with this.

Well slightly more, 160Nm for the 1/2″ vs 158Nm for the 3/8″ but I guess you don’t notice it in real world work.

Call me crazy but it looks like a Milwaukee battery on a ryobi nailer? I know they are owned by the same parent company but is that possible?

WTF I see it too.
BababooeyHTJMember since May 2013

Honestly, that’s tough.

My fuel impact driver by far sees the most use. I love that thing.

As an electrician the bandsaw is a God send. Makes great cuts and doesn’t bounce the material around. There is nothing better for cutting track lighting and wire mold. Does a great job with bolts and obviously pipe. I use the bandsaw for a lot of things.

I like the hackzall a lot too.

The sds hammer drill is great as well.

I’m impressed with the circular saw. It’s perfect for my needs.

The only m12 tool that I own that I was disappointed by is the vac. Doesn’t do a very good job with sheetrock or concrete dust, unlike the m18. Makes it useless to me.

Oh, I forgot about the multi-tool. It was too underpowered to be useful for me.

Very possible.  + to + and – to – and you’re good to go!  I used a donor Ryobi battery for the shell and an M18 work light as a donor for the M18 battery socket.  You just have to be careful not to run the battery out, because there is no protection against total discharge.

The 1/4″ ratchet is brand new.  I don’t like the m12 multitool.  No quick-change chuck, it just feels like a toy compared to the M18 or Dewalt 20v.  WTH, it was free.  So was the 3/8″ drill.  I don’t use it either.  I have the Fuel 1/2″ if I use a 12 volt drill.  The rest are actually used, some pretty heavily!

I agree with the m12 multi not having a quick change is kinda a PITA, might get the m18 just for that….
