2460-21 Rotary Tool Thoughts?

I’m looking at the new(ish) rotary tool and was wondering if its worth the $100. I know you can get a real cordless dremel for $10 cheaper but I like my Milwaukee batteries. Does anyone have experience with one of these? I’d like any input you have. If no one has one I’ll buy one for the advancement of “science”.

If you already have the m12 system I would stick with that, not sure how the stats compare though, you can use any of the shanks of the tools but the only thin about dremel is all the additions to the tools where you can’t with milwaukee.

In my experience with my corded dremel all the dremel attachments never really get used. The only time they would is when I’m next to an outlet and can use my corded one.

The only attachments I’ve used are the planer attachment and the extension wand, which has come pretty valuable.  Just food for thought dude, and not all attachments may work on the cordless any who.  Recently my dremel just sits on the top shelf and collects dust.

Yeah, thank you. I appreciate the input.

As far as specs go it looks like the Milwaukee has a few ounces lighter than the Dremel and substantially faster charging speed along with another 2,000 rpm. Really as far as specs go Milwaukee has a slight advantage but Dremel has the name going for it. Really though if I had to choose between the two I’d go with the Milwaukee. I’m just don’t want to buy it and find a fatal flaw.

I just got into it and it keeps growing.

Grow it some more!

I think my tax return is going to buy me this, and the HD combo deal with the 3/8 Fuel impact and right angle drill if they’re still on sale when I get the check.

I have the m12 rotary tool, I haven’t used it much, cant remember when I got it, I used it a little for carving /rounding out to put hinges on a door that I was modifying. It’s nice to have. Then I got a cheap accessories kit to go along with.

I wanted to make more videos but haven’t had the chance so this is my only one so far

I barely use the dremel I have, no real need for me to pick up a cordless one, I used to use it all the time when I worked on scale models, but not so much any more.

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Just watched the video Dan and Eric did in it. Didn’t realize it was that old, local tool shack displayed it as a new tool. I’m almost definitely sold on it.

as it were the Milwaukee and dremel attachments can be interchanged…….along with other brands of rotory tools

Hey, why you gotta be like that man?[emoji6] I was hoping someone would talk me out of buying one and now I can’t not buy one. I even feel like I need two for some reason.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

they frequently go on sale for under $70 for bare tool…..for that price if you only use it twice a year I’m sure it will pay for itself at least that’s what I tell myself..

I have been debating between the Milwaukee and Dremel cordless so the timing for this thread couldn’t be better. I am thinking about going with the milwaukee only because I figure I can get into their 12v line.

I use my Dremel a lot, enough that it’s hanging ready to go with a flex shaft at my bench.  The big difference for me between dremel brand and knockoffs is wobble in the chuck which I heard is bad with the M12.  Sticking a dremel flex shaft on it should solve the problem though.

ya I have 3 rotory tools plugged in ready for action with different bits, the Milwaukee is also nice to grab and do something mobile….

Pretty sure them 5 slice toasters come in red

I didn’t even know Milwaukee made a tool like this. Now after reading all the posts, I have to have one. All the Milwaukee stuff I have are the M18 gen 2 fuel. This will be a good excuse to get into the M12 line.

Yeah I “need” one for prepping plug welds so really it’s already paid itself off and I don’t even have one yet.[External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied]

I would go with the Milwaukee for cordless

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Definitely getting one. I was short about 30000 rpm today.[External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied]

. Not sure if those come together in a combo but I’ll poke around for it I got the 3/8 wrench with 3/8 ratchet combo and bought the rotory tool kit on a holiday special last year for around $60

That 3/8 ratchet is amazing. It’s actually what sucked me into the M12 line. I bought at full price even after I used a coworkers. No regrets.

yup at first I thought I wouldn’t use it much but man it get its daily work outs from the guys at the shop I do wish it was a little more compact but it’s a not a deal breaker for me I love that lil beast!

lol I don’t see nooo problems with that either bro 😉 they might have some good deals during Father’s Day I know that’s kinda far away but just throwing that out there.
unclebudMember since Dec 2015

I’m hoping they come out with a new 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet this year since they have been around for about 4 years. A M12 fuel ratchet would be great.

Great find comp!

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Comp you got a link dude?

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Man, that is tempting. I’ve been thinking of buying one, we use our cordless Craftsman rotary tool all the time. I have a Dremel at home but I rarely use it, cordless is just soo much more convenient, especially for one of these tools.
