Now new cutting pliers, and similar hand tools that I didn’t know about, like the PVC pliers from Milwaukee!

Yes sir they do. Waiting for HD to get the oil filter pliers.
I have a small set of tongue and groove that are nice, keep them in my electrical bag for working with conduit.

I’ve heard some people complain about the pliers strength and flex in the handles…but there are a lot of tool people that complain about anything not Knipex, Snap-on or the like and don’t take in account price. I personally think they feel pretty nice, though I do feel the handles flex a little more than I like it probably doesn’t effect anything.
I have a couple Milwaukee pliers and haven’t had any handle flex problems, but the metal is definitely soft and the teeth on their pliers flatten quite fast. I’m not sure if this is still a problem with newer ones because after a couple pairs of pliers ended up useless without teeth I gave up. It’s unfortunate because they have some designs I like but there’s not point if the pliers can’t grip.
I’ll be more interested when they make them here.
It’s hard to buy Chinese-made pliers when you can get USA-made Channellock pliers for the same price, Tekton USA-made for cheaper. Also a few Taiwan-made pliers for about the same price. I’ve found Chinese steel to be soft in a lot of cases, good in some cases, Gearwrench comes to mind for good quality Chinese hand tools…though I wish more was still made in Taiwan, it had better finishing.
Yeah they expanded their lineup a little more with some new pliers and wrenches. I have their electrical pliers and like them quite a bit.
They are on the soft side

Speaking of pliers, I saw these on the shelves at Lowes: two-in-one sort of deal

Then you flip the handle up and around to get the second set of jaws in place, wire cutters

That was one of Lowe’s black friday items, they don’t feel bad quality but those handles are awkwardly large and I have large hands(wear XL gloves).

Yea they probably won’t work well with my dainty lady sized hands 🙁

On the bright side you have more color choices for gloves, everything from black to pink! 😛
I tried the 6-in-1s and took them back within a week. There’s a pinch point at the top of the handle where the lock is, they couldn’t cut a 12/2 Romex in a single cut (the cutter is too short) and the clip didn’t hold them closed in my pocket. Truly the worst design I’ve ever seen.
I don’t tell people to buy from one or the other brand, but I do try to convince people to buy a tool from a company that makes that tool, whether it’s a pair of pliers, a screwdriver, a multimeter or a power tool. Once you get into tools made by one company and branded by another, you’re likely to run into problems.
Deciding against starting a new posting, I thought I should put in about their new wrenches, too, being fairly certain I’ll buy at least one of their new cheater wrenches
48-22-7314 Cheater pipe wrench, ships April first.
Also available in April and June are aluminum and steel pipe wrenches
I’m probably going to grab one of the cheater wrenches as well. Seems to be a pretty good idea really.

From the ones I have Millwakee pliers aren’t all that bad, especially for the money.
HD lowered the price on a few of them, i have adjustable reaming Knipex Cobra wannabes, really and truly they are nice, just the teeth are soft.
Would there be a way to harden the teeth on these or any other pliers for that matter?

Or those engineer pliers. I hear they can rip a screw to shreds without even using the cutters.
I had friend use some knipex cable cutters to cut sheet metal and they still work like new. Knipex makes some good pliers.

I made the mistake of using my engineer pliers to remove a bit from a chuck… Not the greatest idea, ripped that bit to shreds

I wonder when all of the new pliers will show up in-store.
Since I have about a dozen of the locking pliers, I guess you could say I kinda like them… thankfully made in Taiwan, not the PRC… much nicer than anything coming out of Irwin lately.
One of these days I’m gonna go on a locking plier bender, and order a bunch of stuff from Europe… Grip On, Gedore, Knipex, whatever else I can find… maybe some of the Grip On rebrands like Proto or Snap On…
Just thought I would put this in here, I’m glad Eric explained a few pointers about the hand tools and especially his thoughts on the spin cutters…

Never seen chrome rollers like that. That’s awesome. Really digging the latch on those pliers, I’m constantly accidentally locking mine.
