Hey,

I noticed that when I use my impact drill, bad smell comes out of it., it is quite new, didn’t got a chance to use it very much.

Is it normal?

Thanks

Is that the oil impulse model? I have a ridgid I just bought it’s the oil impulse motor and there is a slight odor when it impacts.

Yeah it was typical for new tool to make a small smell when first used, smells like electrical wires burning, then after awhile that would go away. With the newer brushless tools there is even less new tool break in smell. The model you indicate is a quite older one. Using factory batteries is good, some after market ones maybe an issue. Keep an eye on it, feel the battery and the body after use, make sure it’s not excessively hot.

Yup s cond to John, the burning is typically residual oil in the motor. It’ll go away eventually.
