Just read this in an email i got, cant remember where it came from. I have the 40V String trimmer and love it, but couldnt really justify the cost for the hedge trimmer for how often i would use it, now a 20v hedge trimmer with a 5.0ah battery….that i can get behind. Cant really find much info on it yet.

I see the DCHT820b listed on the Home Depot web site. $129.00 I guess it’s not released yet. Soon, March. The kit is DCHT8201 $199.00 with the 5.0 battery.JoshH8664 wrote:

It’s kinda crazy how cheap the Dewalt lawn tools are with a 5.0 ah battery.
This is going to be a tough call for me. I will have to really hold it in the store and look at the blade design.
The new Ryobi One+ hedge trimmer was just released, should be in your HD now, and it is very well designed. The specs (cut capacity/blade length) are identical as this new DeWalt. The Ryobi has a couple things on the DeWalt: The incorporated hedge sweep to help remove clippings and an ingenious rotating handle that I can definitely see as a fantastic benefit when reaching in odd positions or for extended use to change the grip up. Price for the Ryobi is $129 for the kit with charger and compact battery ($69 for bare tool). I already have some 4ah batteries I use with my flood light and fan.

I love DeWALT and I most likely would buy anything they manufacture if I needed it. If I only had the money…..

They new Ryobi hedge trimmer looks much nicer than the old one. Plus $69 is cheaper than the Dewalt. The only reason to buy the Dewalt 20v is if your in the platform already
Id totally get one of those Ryobi trimmers if I didnt already have a nice Stihl. My Stihl is not cordless thou so I may have to go look. The perimeter of our front yard has a wall of hedges. Breaking out my extension cord isnt a big deal to me but i trip over the stupid thing often enough to justiify. Althoou the wife would probably get pissed at me lol.[External image (i1204.photobucket.com), not copied]
The other thing that happens is you cut you extension cord and it happens to be your really good one 🙁
Just an FYI. The new Ryobi is not yet available for purchase as a bare tool although it is listed.
Also, Ryobi just released a new updated version of their ONE+ chainsaw and it is fantastic.
That’s pretty nice looking for ryobi, looks a lot better then a lot of their stuff on the market.

Yeah ive seen that newer 10″ chainsaw,i actually have it on my list be awesome to take camping and some stuff around the house. I usually use a pruning blade on my recip. I have yet to get any Ryobi stuff, but man some of their improvements seem nice and also easy on the pocket book.

Yeah man I almost did that one time to my nice 100′ cord,at least it would be easy to fix the cord.

Yeah I have a 100 foot cord that is now about 95 foot.

for me it would be worth it to end up with another battery, again as most tools these days its starting to come down to whos battery system you are on.

Or you could ship the Stihl to me and tell your wife it got stolen ;D
I can get on board with this one… and a 20V chainsaw!
I wouldn’t doubt we see a 20v Brushless chainsaw from Dewalt in the future. The one thing I don’t know is if they will do a lawn mower.
That would be cool,as long as it doesnt cost an arm,a leg,and your first born like the Bosch one(battery powered mower).
. Jason I just ended up ordering the 20v weed wacker so if they come out with lawnmower that would be a awesome addition to the line!Jasonc wrote:

If DeWalt came out with a 40V mower it would be a home run

We have to start a petition for this mower or something lol
We absolutely need to buy a new mower in spring, has our current one died last fall. I just wish the battery powered mowers were self propelled, however we are 98% sure we are buying battery powered mower in spring.

See at this moment don’t you wish DeWalt had one available?
. I was just looking at a EGO one yesterday the guy wanted $250 for it with a 2.0 battery but I’m keeping my hopes up for a black and yellow one 🙂T75R wrote:

Im curious how well a battery mower would really be,im assuming it will be awesome if you live somewhere it doesnt rain or snow alot and you can mow often to keep it short. I know when my backyard gets moderately tall it bogs down my Honda no problem. taller drier grass isnt an issue ever. The last few weeks we’ve had 70°+ temps during the afternoon so ive been able to get it looking pretty decent. Supposed to get thunderstorms tonight.
I usually try to keep it decently short, backyard points to the east so it gets sun mostly all day,out front on the west side of house we have a huge sycamore tree so its almost always shaded when the leaves come back. We also have a decent size apricot tree which has been blooming for a couple weeks already.
The Dewalt lawn equipment is pretty nice

Especially since Stihl cordless OPE costs a fortune.

I believe the Ego one is self propelled. To be frank though, most cordless mowers are pretty light so self propulsion is not considered a high priority feature by most manufacturers.

I think they have 3 models…. maybe ones a budget one
Did anyone end up getting one of these hedge trimmers?
I might be in the market for a trimmer and have the DeWalt 20v line, or Milwaukee 18v, or Milwaukee 12v. 🙂
I have the DeWALT and I love them. Very good battery life and they cut amazing.
Going with the EGO hedge trimmer. That’s my next buy.
@nordraw I have an ego blower and love it. I did actually get the 20v Dewalt hedge trimmer and it is an awesome machine. Absolutely beautiful, does a great job and goes thicker than my 16 year old B&D electric one ever did. I’m sure you’ll like the ego but I have to tell you first hand if your embroiled in the 2@v line I would not hesitate for one second going with the dewalt!
