The jackpot is going to be at least 1.3 billion and I want to know just the first tool. I know we’d all have a warehouse of every tool with that kind of funds. I ask this partially because I’m just curious and partially because I’d like to know what tools are perceived as the best of the best. The first thing I’d buy would be a 3D printer working in stainless steel.
First tool: TS55
Second: Midi
Third: Kapex
Fourth: Domino
Fifth: I’ll start with 10 of each size Systainer
Wow, Festool should buy me some lotto tickets because it seems I’ll be heavily investing in it should I win!
Whoops…so much for only naming 1
All.

First tool would be a new truck, then a new house to put it in. With a dedicated shop of at least 2000 sq. ft.
I agree with RCWARD, I would buy a new truck first.
wouldn’t buy nothing and save it for a rainy day…
Something like or a bobcat. Or the small track hoe.Stercorarius wrote:

Or a big metal lathe. Or metal mill would be very cool.Stercorarius wrote:

I honestly don’t know what tool I would start with…so many to choose. It would be nice to have a small machine/welding shop. All manual machines, no cnc except maybe a small cnc plasma table.
truth be told if ya win $10,000 of fun money tools would be somewhere on the list right away, if you won $100,000 possible vehicle would be on the list, if it was $1,000,000 all of the above would be on the list, but winning $1,300,000,000 would be so mind blowing I’m sure it would take awhile to sink in and realize what you could actually buy……….you would be pulled in every direction and not know what to do..many many friends would magically show up wanting to help you in one way or another just in hopes of some kind of pay off. I probably would give the winning ticket to a neighbor and let him be the guy under the microscope pass him a couple hundred million for his troubles mean while you carry on your life normally……but with a bit more pocket change when you walk into home depot
Dolmar ps7900 chainsaw !
A Milwaukee miter stand from some guy would be my first tool.

Would cost you the whole damn ticket lol

New truck, like the others said.
I’d probably buy a 3D printer next, would probably buy a FARO arm shortly after.
Oh I’m sure, but I’d have a piece of art to look at and never use lol.Jimbos1ice wrote:

Is Home Depot a tool? I would probably just buy a Home Depot so I could walk around and no one would ever be in my way when I’m trying to look at something.

Definitely a new truck first, then a lot of land in the Appalachians, then a house and shop and hangar building, then fill with tools and aircraft and old vehicles of all sorts. Hopefully doing some good in the process.

I’d like a Milwaukee in bugatti colors….cause with that kind of money you can have whatever you want…..
Hmmm, a car lift if you can call that a tool. Then a big house and garage to put it in. Something low profile to be able to get my new ford gt on it.
probably never wear the same underwear more than once ever again. I would hire one of my buddies to bring me 7 new pairs every friday morning and pay him $70,000 a year…..
Definitely everything I don’t already have in the dewalt line up. Then I would grab some festoon tools. Then I would need a mega shop.
I’d go for a jointer for my new shop. I don’t have a shop and work out of a tool trailer. That’s the one tool I’d use the most that I really can’t use now with a mobile operation.
multi axis cnc s
Not a huge Dodge Truck guy but I think it would be this monster!! http://www.topgear.com/car-news/modified/object-irrational-desire-icon-d200-reformer
I would probably put $5,000,000 as side for fun money when I went to home depot, cruizing around the tools I’d see someone looking at a tool and at random just walk up and ask you thinking of buying that? and if they said something like ” I wish” I’d say it’s your lucky day and buy the whole line up for the guy and walk away…….
with 5mil you could make around $200,000 in interest so you could do that many times in a year and still have your 5 mil
There is no first tool for me it would be me ordering entire tool lines if you can’t fix or build it in my shop you are not doing it right

If ever I won lottery jackpot. I prefer to buy any hand tools and equipment that relates to car repair service and also the house with garage(where I can repair the car).
cnc machine or 3d printer… and then a chopsaw
I would have to buy a new place before I could start buying tools.
think of it this way, you want to go to say home depot to buy a tool, you want a drill………but when you get there a guy says it’s your lucky day you can pick any one tool …………how long do you think it would take to pick? same will go if you win life changing money where everything you can think of buying is in your wheel house now as easy as get me one of those…….
No idea what my first tool would be,an electrical and lighting upgrade to my garage would be one of my first things. That way I can run my lathes and bridgeports at home.
I would buy a 2 HP cyclone dust collector unit. As of now, it would most likely be the Laguna unit. I hope to have one of these within the next year.
Is an automated Gatling gun a tool to keep people away?

I’ve always wanted a grenade launcher for digging holes.
forklift, gonna need something to help offload the giant planer, jointer, and lathes i would wish to purchase.
First thing I’m buying is a house then a nice new truck and the after that the best miter saw and stand money can buy

First I’d stop by the Ford dealer and get a new Super Duty, then I’d drive to Woodcraft and get all the Festool stuff I might think I would use, plus the Systainer edition Fein Multimaster. Then go looking for a big piece of property.
Luckily, I don’t fit in Corvettes, GT40s, Ferraris, or Jaguars. I might try to get a 911 Turbo modified to where I can fit my legs in….
I’d go with a sawstop table saw.
I’d get a Mercedes Vito full options for the rainy days, and a pimped Ford Raptor F150 for the sunny days.
Ah yes, and since there will be several millions left, I wouldn’t say know to a supersized shop with a built in garage (for the Vito, the Raptor and their possible brothers and sisters ;D ).
And while there are (still) millions left, a nice and friendly visit to buy one or two things from FELDER and a kickass 5-axis CNC milling machine with a super knowledgable guy to operate it.
Where to start:D:D
probably a new Bosch 12” mitre, a new ctl midi, and a new table saw
My first tool would be a warehouse to store all of the rest to follow…
A new truck and maybe pickup some Metabo 18 volt stuff ..one of those drill drivers with the pulse setting and that flat head grinder..
I thought this over yesterday. I can’t think of anything I would run out and buy. I have most everything I need.
Now I’m trying to figure out what that means. Are my expectations low or am I living a fulfilled life? Either way, tools would not be on my list.
The other day, one of my competitors stopped by the jobsite. Competitor yes, but friend also. He was talking about how he would have to finish his current job, if he won the lottery. I just laughed. I said, I wouldn’t finish anything. I would hire him to finish my jobs.
Unrelated to tools. The one thing I would buy is a double wide. I’ve had my eye on one with 40 acres. $300,000 is just a little steep for me. Then make sure my friends and family were set up.
