Craftsman makes a decent tray organizer for around 40 bucks.

I just use the craftsman socket rails. They aren’t anything special, but they keep them organized for me. I like that I can look at them and if there is a gap I know I have one missing.

I have a bunch of Hansen Global trays, and a couple of the Kobalt copies. I like them, but the use a bunch of space. I’m starting to think I may pick up some of the rails used by Carlyle or Gearwrench (aside from color, they appear identical). I don’t know what I will do when I get more than one 3/4″ drive socket…..

If I had the spare coin laying around, I would have a bunch of these Nepros rails….

I like Hansen’s storage products, normally good pricing on very good quality products and made in the USA.

Those Nepros rails look pretty interesting.

I have the Harbor Freight knock off’s of the Hansen’s. They work pretty well, however you always have sockets and adapters (Hex, Torx, E-Socket) that don’t necessarily fall into the the same organizational grouping of everything else. To get around it, I’ve purchased some of the cheap socket rails and I then fastened the rails to a strip of wood. Doing this I can then organize the oddballs pretty well.

I’ll take some pictures on Sunday morning on how I have my socket drawer organized,

I had the craftsman socket organizer Jimbo is talking about. I didn’t like that it took up one drawer each for standard and metric. I now have some magnetic kobalt socket rails and now all of my sockets only take up about 2/3 of a drawer for all of them other than my impact sockets. How many sockets do you have?

I just ordered a 6 piece Hansen kit from Amazon today I went to Sears to pick some up but it’s cheaper through Amazon

WeldfabNeilMember since May 2015

I just use a socket orginizer from Armstrong.

Eventually I plan to mill some socket trays from aluminum. A guy at my work bought got one of our machinists cnc mill them out. They are the same basic concept as the plastic Hansen socket trays, but solid aluminum an they are sized an spaced to his toolbox.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Looks nice 99!! My Hansen organizers should here soon I had sockets everywhere in my box…

99_XC600Member since Jun 2015

Thanks Mike.

With the oddballs in the middle on the socket rails. It helps to create separate spaces for metric and SAE.

You’ll like the Hansens. They’re pretty slick

rrich1Member since Jun 2015

Depends on how you want to store them? Vertical? Horizontal? I am looking at the ernst trays or the westlings.

Those look pretty sharp, I have a bunch of HF cheap rails that slice your fingers, funny their socket rails are sharper than their saw blades.

All these look great, they really do, but I can’t use them in my situation, I need the sockets to stay locked in, using them out in the field, putting them in my bag or storing them where they will get bumped…. so, I use these::

[External image (cdn3.volusion.com), not copied]

These are modular and custom

You can put 3/8″ and 1/4″ on the same bar, it’s magnetic, and they lock with a rotating motion, they cannot pull off without you rotating to unlock the sockets….

So now you know, this is another option.

The ernst rails are twist lock and have a thinner rail profile. I have them in .y Amazon cart bust is actually cheaper through their own website. [emoji33]

Nice looking stuff. I’m in the same boat as Knarlycarl where I have to be too mobile for these to work.

One of the very few chinese things i have…………. hf socket trays.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

Here is my setup. Almost all of my sockets are on some sort of rail. The back six rails are kobalt magnetic rails and the smaller sets in the front are on the rails that they came with. The kobalt rails are magnetic but they are kind of pricey. Somehow I only got charged for half though. Ignore the brake tools and snap ring pliers on the right side.

I was just looking at those Kobalt rails last night, but yeah, they are pricey!
