What’s a rough dimension? I see your feet in the pic and it looks like it may be a good sized little chunk of concrete. Is it a pier?

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

It may have had an old school satellite dish mounted to it. The big 6′ ones people had in their yards.

A mill stone.

Its a good 24 inches in diameter. How tough do you guys think it would be to bust it up?

I have a Bosch sds and a chisel for it. Never tried breaking concrete with it yet. I mostly use it for bolting shelves and such to the floor.

No problem. And if they didn’t use any gravel. It’ll be like cutting butter.

Some people pay for those mill stones. To put in there yard. It wouldn’t be a hard sell. If you can get it out without damaging it. But a lot of the big collectors would buy it broken too though.

I have this drill:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BB79Q6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

And this chisel:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FW3YO2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Is that chisel the proper type for the job?   The drill has an sds plus chuck.

You sent two for the same links. But with that you shouldn’t have much problem. You might need a two pound hammer and a bigger sleg. To persuade the concrete some times. [emoji6]

I got The pic. Yea that will do fine. And if you have any trouble breaking it up. And you have a masonary bit. Drill some holes here and there as deep as you can. Then use the chisel.

It might suck it the cement is deep in the ground. If it s just a little slab is should go pretty quick.

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

That cement is so old though it should just break right up. Good luck.

They are working. Any time buddy.

Cement gets harder as it ages. Did you try to dig it up first?

I would guess there was an unlicensed shed or deck the PO removed?

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

Not old cement. Have u never removed old cement with steal in it have you? If the rebar is exposed it caueses the rain to get in and breaks down the concrete. There is a word for it.

With concrete it never stops cureing. And if it sits outside exposed and you dont ever put concrete sealer on it it will become brittle. Just like brick does after years in the environment.

I still say dish mount.

Either way, it’ll break right up. Try smacking it with an 8lb sledge.

The SDS will get it down at least a few inches below the surface to cover up.
