Hey guys we have a Hilti TE76 that needs close to $700 in repairs. A new Hilti TE70 ( new model ) would cost about $1700 new. I figure for 700 I could get a good Bosch. I know that Hilti is a great tool but money is tight at work. Can anyone recommend a good Bosch combo model.

The TE76 is a beast. You aren’t going to get the same performance from a $700 Bosch. I would fix the Hilti.
How many years have you had it? How much abuse did it take?
Do you think a Bosch that’s 1/3 the price will be the same?
Don’t get me wrong, Bosch makes good stuff, but it isn’t really apples to apples so to speak.
There will come a time when Hilti will just replace it.

We have 5 more TE76s and they are heavily used. Your right it’s not apples to apples. I I think I’ll fix it and grab a Bosch just to put it thru its paces and see what it can do. Money’s tight now but hoping for a nice check in January. Thanks for the adviceHiltiWpg wrote:

We have a Bosch and Makita for occasional use. Nothing wrong with them at all.

I wouldn’t limit myself to looking at Bosch. Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee all make some good rotary hammers of that size.
Also I thought Hilti limited the repair costs to 30% of the original value which is probably quite a bit less than a comparable hammer from another brand.
Isnt like 70% of hilti Rotary internals from Bosch anyway ? Just what ive heard 🙂
You buy hilti for the durability. Not anymore for the performance. Performance / weight/ antivibe wise other Brands have been ahead of hilti for some time.

In 18v cordless compact, sure, there are several great offerings.kornomaniac wrote:

In industrial, no one is really ahead of anyone. The technology isn’t exactly complicated. It boils down to performance, durability and longevity. Something Hilti has excelled at for many, many years.
Did you “like” your own post? LOL!

Yup i clicked that icon on my cellphone when trying to click the message to edit because of spelling mistakes…
Anyway, you are repeating what i have said: you buy a hilti for durability.
Not for performance.

Very interesting read by the way. Unfortunatly its near impossible to test durability in between tools but i think we can al agree a hilti would win a durability comparison.
I am an electrician, I drill and core concrete. I have used Makita, Bosch and Hilti. We actually own all 3 brands. I can say, with experience and authority, that the Hilti is the best. Let me be clear, it isn’t the best “everything”. It is however, the best performing, overall. I wouldn’t use the Bosch to core as it stalls and is slow. It chips better than the Hilti, but only marginally. I actually prefer the Makita ergonomics too! The Bosch was on sale, we bought it, it’s fine. I would have no problem recommending any of them.kornomaniac wrote:

I can go into detail if you like, but I am boring!

No need for detail. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course !
OP asked for info on Rotary hammers and i provided my opinion backed up with some reviews 🙂
Thank you for all the info

used Hilti, and Bosch hammers, both are best in category. but there’s no need to spend the extra cash on hilti. Bosch will perform well, and last as long as a hilti. get the bosch 11264 (in NA) and you’ll be more than happy.
