It seems Milwaukee is starting to ship thier tool boxes to the stores on the east coast and most likely they will start to make way to the west coast soon……this has got me back in tool box mode, I was thinking of getting two Milwaukee box / chest sets but after scoping out what would go in what drawer, I found the Milwaukee bottom box isn’t to my liking as much as I first thought…..the bottom drawer heights are to tall for my needs and really wanted to see less taller and more shorter drawers. All my corded and cordless tools have thier own location so I wouldn’t be filling the drawers with them. Anyway the Homak H2Pro 72 inch tool box and chest has caught my eye, build quality seems very good, drawer layout is just about perfect for my needs and its a smidge shorter in length which allows me to get the end cabinet that matches. Its going to be a difficult choice…..I do like the Milwaukee badge though LOL!

I’m in the same boat. I am looking to get a new box and really like the Milwaukee one. Trying to decide if the drawer pattern fits all of my needs. I like the Masterforce ones from Menards but are more expensive.
It’s a hard call to try and find just the perfect box. I like the ones you listed, they seem nice.

The Homak I’m considering looks simular in drawer layout and pricing to the Masterforce boxes…..I do like Milwaukee’s top box its just thier bottom box layout I’m not fond of. Another brand I’m looking at is International, they too are simular to Masterforce and Homak. I’m also leaning to a 72″ box and chest instead of multiple boxes this time around, hopefuly this will be my last tool box. So far I’m leaning to the Homak boxes as they really have the drawer layout that fits my needs.

Be nice if the box manufactures offered a few different drawer options…….

I just looked them up. The Homak’s look nice. But with the shipping cost added it makes it quite a bit more for the box than the Milwaukee or the Masterforce. If you went with a Masterforce box you could get one shipped to the store for free to save that cost. Also buy it during their 11% sale and get a rebate on top of it. I have some rebates coming and about to send off that if I went that route I would use them towards a box but also wait for their rebate sale again.

The shipping is a killer, I’m on the west coast and for the 72 inch top and bottom its $580 to ship…..that sucks for sure. I like the Masterforce but didn’t see a top box for the 72 incher. man this is a tough one, do I go with a box that I’m not thrilled with drawer layout and cheaper or bite the bullet and get the box with perfect drawer layout for my needs and pony up more $$$……This is going to be my last tool box so I’m tempted to just man up and pay the price. All in all its a $1000 more for what I need and want, not the end of the world I guess 🙂

for the price of shipping that is a whole other tool box! What about a 72″ box with a 56″ top or even a 41″ top and have the remaining space as work space? Masterforce also has a 56″ top and bottom combo for 1,348.
Do you have a Menards close being on the west coast?

I was kicking the 72 inch bottom and 56 inch top and that certainly is a consideration plus it saves me a bunch of money…..however I would be pushing to fit all my tools in that configuration. We have menards about 40 miles down the road.

I’d happily drive 80 miles to save me $600 LOL. For sh!ts and giggles I’d contact Masterforce and see if they have a top for the 72″ but not have it listed.

more and more companies are coming out with tool boxes so the normal Snap-On, Mac, and Matco boxes are getting a lot of competition. I’m sure Masterforce has been getting some of that market share. If they even said they were working on one you could always buy the bottom now and buy the top later, not ideal but could be an option. Who knows. 🙂
Also I would like to get my hands on an International box and see how they compare to other brands. They look nice as well.

Just do what Comp does and Milwaukinze it!
You could always get the 72″ bottom, and 2 36″ tops, usually top drawers aren’t as wide anyways and you could potentially customize your needs even better.

Not a bad idea but the 36″ top isn’t as deep, 18″ vs 24″ for the cabinet.

Was looking at that option as well…..and if it didn’t fit length wise I could always have some sort of plywood top for the top boxes to sit on.

I saw that with masterforce top box. Homak top and bottom boxes both have 20 inch deep drawers which I like…..I’m liking the Homak best so far for drawer height, depth and layout. I pretty much have decide against the Milwaukee due to the bottom box layout. Sorry Milwaukee 🙁
I’m looking at the homak 33 inch box I’m only 15 and don’t have may tools so I figured the 33 would be perfect quality looks amazing

When you get ready to buy you may want to check with them to make sure its in stock as it shows no longer available. It looks like they only offer the SE series in 27 and 41 inch versions now. It could be they have a few 33″ combo sets hanging around.
Ok thanks alot for the tips that’s why I like the forum guys helping younger guys outjbw55 wrote:

I have still been kicking around what tool box combo I want to replace my Craftmans boxes with, and Home Depot didn’t make this easier today, Recieved an email indicating there now available on-line for $798 for both pieces. The Homak 72 inch top and bottom box has a great drawer layout for my needs but $2850 with shipping is the tough one to swallow….If I go the Milwaukee route I’m looking at around $1745 for two complete set which includes shipping and deliverd to my home. The Milwaukee sets will give me 92 inches of storage but the bottom box doesn’t have the ideal drawer layout for me, it will work though…….Hmmmmmm I thought I was 100% decided but now its like the carrot and the rabbit thing LOL!!, what to do…..
Just an FYI, my store has the box for $700 and not the $800 listed online. If bought separate online it is only $750, not sure why there is such a variance on their own pricing.jbw55 wrote:

I just notice that too….odd for sure….
I think they considered the original $698 a test and hence the “Special Buy” to test the waters. It seems the pricing is still different in some places. It’s a great box. I can see it might not be for everyone but for $698, I actually bought both pieces separately to use two $20 coupons to make it $658 essentially for the pair, it’s a very good deal in this segment. The box mine came in even had the store tag still on it with the special buy Memorial Day promotion lol:
What coupons did you use?

They were emailed $20 of of $200 coupons from HD. They send them to me occasionally, I think Pro member email stuff.

gotya. time to scour the internets.
I think anyone can sign up for a Pro account, I actually have a couple and get multiple emails. These coupon codes are like personal 26 digit codes that expire when used and also come with a week or so expiration date. I like having a pro account just for the emailed digital receipts more than anything, it’s so convenient to have a digital record emailed instead of relying on a little slip of paper when needing to keep track of expenses on tons of things for a big project like a house remodel, not to mention HD’s receipts have a nasty habit of fading over time.
Cool thanks. I always say no to the emailed receipts. I’ll look into it.JerryNY wrote:

Menard’s is running their 11% off sale again. Will be taking a trip to HD tomorrow to see if any boxes are in stock.

Do they honor that on everything? I was under the impression it was only valid on items that were sold at Menards.

I believe it is everything not on sale or already discounted. Not sure it would work though if there is no Menard’s in your area. Just ask at checkout for the rebate form. Some have said they will just deduct it right then. I only did it earlier this month and sent in the form. Haven’t heard anything yet.

yup could make it so it is sportin Milwaukee tags in short order…lol
I really like the Milwaukee box, but if I got the cash to buy a toolbox I think I would pick the Husky 52″ It’s a 100 bucks cheaper and bigger. It should last my lifetime I don’t abuse things too bad 🙂
man Jason I’ve been to HD twice this week and I’ve stopped to check out that husky it’s a sweet box bro freakin huge I like the milwaukee a lot looks awesome but it is out of my price range at the moment…..Jasonc wrote:

I looked at the Husky too but ultimately bought the Milwaukee Box. Although they look very similar the Milwaukee box seemed a lot more solid. The Caster supports are much thicker, the soft close drawers are really nice, the Milwaukee lid has a handle, and I really like the integrated power strips. I have 2 Milwuakee charges on the side of the box and 2 Ryobi 40v chargers in the lid, it’s nice to have everything in one place and charging at the flip of a switch.

These are the reasons why I went with the Milwaukee. I was tempted to spend less and get the 41″ Husky as the 51″ was too big. The benefits of the Milwaukee box justified the extra cost.
I really like the Milwaukee box too if I could get a good deal on it if they go on clearance I would be all in right away. I’m just thinking if I had to pay full price and my own personal needs I start to think maybe I don’t need as heavy duty of a box. I’m not going to be loading it up too crazy and moving it around often. That sort of stuff comes to mind.

good points. I am not a tradesman by profession. I look at it as I only want to spend this type of money once. There are trade offs. If you need a bigger box then dont get a smaller one. a 52″ wouldnt fit in my garage, 46 and 41 will. I decided to buy bigger as you will always fill it up. Just like a gun safe, I dont own 27 guns but my safe is nearly full.
