Gen. 2 Fuel Kit Weights?

Just received shipping notification for my Gen 2 Fuel drill from the Milwaukee Symposium Giveaway. There was some discrepancies as to what drill kit will be given away. It will be delivered Tuesday, but the shipping weight is 29.4lbs. What’s everyone’s best guess as to what kit it is?

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I think you might have got both the Drill and Impact driver kits. Home Depot has the weight of the two piece combo kit as 18lb’s with xc batteries.

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

Where’s the other 10lbs coming from?

comp56Member since Sep 2014

from my experience, shipping weight can be very ball park……

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I was trying to say Milwaukee may have shipped you a Full Drill kit and Full Impact driver kit with that kinda weight. I could be wrong though. The other thing is like Comp mentioned the weight might not be accurate.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

let us be wrong and a whole wack of tools show up….lol ::)

It’s always cheaper to mail something overweight than to have UPS hit you with the penalty for being under weight. 10lbs is excessive, 2-3lbs over is not uncommon but 10lbs?

The 2896-24 kit would be nice…..

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

When I got my fuel hammer drill and impact driver kit shipped to me the weight was like 8 lbs listed on UPS’ tracking page and I freaked out thinking they sent me the wrong thing too but it ended up being the right thing. The weight was way off. I think manufactures and retailers with accounts with shippers make their own labels and sometimes screw things up but being that they have large accounts they probably reconcile the weight/cost after the fact if there is a discrepancy.

electromageMember since Sep 2015

I wonder if they padded the weight just to make you guess.

What ever you get post some pictures 🙂

Yeah, but they are probably really sweet rocks!  If they are Milwaukee rocks  you know they are going to look good too!

Seriously though, I am curious now to see what they sent you.  I may try to look back and see what the shipping weights were compared to actual weights of a couple tools I ordered recently.

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

I’m trying not to get my hopes up. That DeWalt track showed a 50+ lb shipping weight. It must have been palletized.

I remember the 50lb Dewalt shipment. That was really weird how they shipped it.

When you see a red dot coming at your face get ready for impact 🙂

The extra weight is for the paperwork you will have to fill out. 😉

Here’s the extra weight.

That’s wayyyy more than I would have guessed. Combined weight of the kits is 27.21lbs plus the box and packaging. That’s pretty close to the shipping weight.

jbw55Member since Jul 2015

So I guess you’ll be doing a member give a way here since your into Dewalt 😀

You can power the Mars rover forever with that much gas

Nice score! What luck? I’m eyeing those too. Weird question: Apart from the extra batteries, would you have preferred the combo kit over the split kit? Or no?

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I called it first!!  I should get a a free impact driver 🙂

Not really. The only difference would have been a single hard case. So I’d much rather have two chargers and 4 batteries all day. I’ll probably put them in a DS150 Tough System box with some kaizen foam anyway.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Congrats Ricky that’s awesome of milwaukee to hook u up like that!!

Peter ArgyropoulosMember since Sep 2015

Nice prize. I’d prefer it just the way they sent it – two tools in two cases. I often only take my impact and those accessories with my into a job and leave the drill and its accessories in the truck till I need it. I hated the Makita combo set for how big the damn case was and how heavy it was with both impact and drill accessories together.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

It’s not as bad if you drill and impact kit is in a tool bag, but the 2 tool Milwaukee blow molded case is pretty big and bulky. I would prefer if Milwaukee would release their tools in a Systainer type system. The plastic cases have limited accessory storage and just a pain to store anywhere.

I have a few bagged tools but they’re ones I use rarely, like my multimaster, cordless rotary hammer or voltage gloves. Stuff I use regularly, I want in a hard case so I’m not digging in a bag for the accessories.

I haven’t looked at any recent Milwaukee cases, but if they’re like the old ones, I would definitely prefer Systainer/Sortimo or the new style of Fein case.

I have the 2 tool kit and I don’t think the case is all that big and bulky. If you use both tools together a lot it makes sense to have one case. If you frequently only use 1 of them, or in this case where you get more batteries free, it makes sense to have individual cases.
