i had a couple of the older 18 volt radios and they had absolutely no bass at all. do any of the newer radios sound better? can anyone compare to the makita or milwaukee radios? those sound great.
If you like the Makita or Milwaukee give the Bosch a try. Bass has been redefined! PB360. Also they are FINALLY introducing a BT version!
The Bosch is on sale for $130 too.
That new small dewalt radio is convenient but one of the worst I’ve used and reception was terrible. The Milwaukee charger/radio is a little pricey but you will feel like ur in a night club, great sound and well worth it!
Job Site radio wise I think the Milwaukee M18 blue tooth or Bosch Powerbox can’t be beat. Like Chrisk mentioned a Bluetooth version should be out pretty soon. The only thing is Bosch tends to be the slower of all the tool companies.
well i still have the makita and milwaukee radios, but no batteries. i was just looking for a dewalt for when i want to run off batteries.
agree the Milwaukee is top notch and man the Bosch is nice I really wanted to buy that radio but just never did cus I didn’t have anything Bosch…Jasonc wrote:

thats an odd shape. maybe in europe you guys use those containers, but here in the usa not many use those containers. so the shape of the radio is kinda odd.

You’d rather a giant cube than a slim compact design with 4 speakers?

oooh, that looks nice! i actually have an older milwaukee radio.
i guess the shape is kinda odd to me being more flat than upright, like most radios, no? oh well.
. That Milwaukee radio is badass I have it and love it!!Gatorb888 wrote:

I have been on the fence about which one of these radios I need. I think they are all pretty nice. I’m having a harder time picking a radio than I ever had picking a tool!

Kruton if ur looking for a radio get the milwaukee brotha seriously a great radio man and loud sadly my Dewalt radios are just collecting dust at the moment….
I have 3 of the tough boxes. I made a liner from foam for the Dewalt drill set I have since all it had was a bag. I bought a Dewalt 20v recip and it came with one. I got the big one as a carrier for other stuff. They are pretty rugged. I was looking forward to that new Dewalt radio but now this Milwaukee is out and seems like a better pick. Also the Milwaukee will charge batteries. Can’t beat that.
This guy seems to think Bosch powerbox is best.
The last model can be had for $130 (no Bluetooth) but it does charge batteries when plugged in.

The Dewalt tough case radio will charge batteries as well. It has 4 speakers and 2 subs so the sound should be better than the older models. Can anyone confirm that the tough case radio has better sound and bass than previous models? OH and they finally put BT in the full size radios, no more adaptors necessary .

The latest Dewalt ‘Tough Music’ – (to use it’s official description) totally blows anything else out of the water..
I was on a Jobsite (here in the UK) the other Day, and the Dewalt Team came to visit me (as part of my usual product testing duties) so I asked them to bring the New Tough Music Radio..
We set it up and left it running for an hour or so whilst we discussed new products..
Within that time, 2 out of 6 other contractors on site, got on the phone and ordered one.. And one of them contractors currently holds no other Dewalt tools in their kit.(as yet)…
Thats how good the product is….

I took this pic on Friday at my HD
nice. i’ll have to swing by my local store.
no luck finding the radio at my local store. and the website doesnt show anything either. i guess i’ll have to be patient.
If you already have the Makita/Milwaukee. Have you considered just buying a few batteries on eBay? New or used you could probably get 2 batteries for less than the cost of a new radio.. That also give a you the flexibility of buying tools from that manufacturer in the future if you wanted. Older technology Full size 3.0ah or even smaller 1.5ah compacts can be found for pretty cheap and will give plenty of runtime in a radio
To save even more money, just one 3.0ah battery will last you all day and you could just charge it at night

I do a lot of shopping on eBay and get great deals, just be patient and make sure it ships from the US, lots of fraud out there but I’ve gotten dewalt 5.0 batteries new for 75 bucks.
Milwaukee has some decent sounding radios, my HD was rocking out their high end radio today sounded pretty good.

I meant to say the new tough sound sku number
The Tough System Music is INCREDIBLE! I probably only have about two hours on it since the Monday. I try to use it as much as possible. Find things to do where I can fire it up.
whats the model or sku number for the dewalt radio?
Just bought the Dewalt tough radio. One word. Amazing.
i just bought the new dewalt radio, and oh my god, this thing really rocks! seriously, this radio has a ton of bass, and sounds clear even at high volume. time to get rid of my makita and milwaukee radios. lol
i have to admit to doing something stupid though. i kept pressing the power button and was wondering why it wouldnt turn on. i thought i had a bad radio. i then quickly figured i had to hold the power button to turn it on. oops!

Great to hear this Framer… Being a European tool tester and lets say Dewalt ‘Brand Ambassador’ in the UK, it sometimes causes people to think that I wax lyrical about products for the sake of it.. Good to hear that your review backs up what I have been saying for a while now..
I can at long last get rid of any competitors Radio form my Van set up in Favour of the Dewalt, which (in my opinion) has got to be the best out in the market place, and will take something truly special from someone else to knock it of it’s podium…
I’ve had the tough system music (that is a proper mouth full) for a few days and it’s the mutts nuts
