Milwaukee 46in Tool Chest

Does anyone know if it’s possible to buy the Milwaukee 46in rolling tool chest online? I missed getting one locally at Home Depot while they had them in stock. The web site now says they have been discontinued. I’ve searched the web, but I cannot find any to order online.

In store is the only place I saw them. Ask your local HD to search local stores.

It is possible they do another run as it was such a hot item.

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

You might be able to get your local HD to locate them for you at another HD like Shuutr says.

They might restock near the holidays. The Milwaukee boxes were super popular.

ankurMember since Jul 2015

i believe they were a “seasonal” item. i’m pretty sure i read or heard in one of the video reviews that these will definitely be back in store. i’m not sure why, but lots of stores that had remaining inventory actually clearanced them at $20-30 off list. they were actually relisted on the website a couple of weeks ago at an increased price… i think it went up to 800 for the set instead of the original 700. they wouldnt increase the price unless they misjudged the market for these things. my guess is that milwaukee underestimated just how good a box they made compared to the competition.

silicaMember since Aug 2015

Thanks for the replies. I did ask the local Home Depot guy about them. None of the local stores have any in stock and have not had any stock for quite a while. Guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and wait. Although the new black DeWalt tool chest that Dan unpacked this week looks nice. I hope they do a segment of TIA on it.

I hope they bring them back…..I’d be in for two.

$1200 for the dewalt? i watched a review of a 40″ and if that’s the one you’re referring to the pricing is absurd.

so even after milwaukee basically showed everybody up by including 2 power strips, self closing drawings, a peg board, a workshelf, and i don’t know what else into a box that costs less than $800, these guys still think they can charge 50% more for an inferior product?? i don’t think i’ve heard a negative comment about the milwaukee box other than you need 2 different keys for the locks on each piece. i’m a huge red fan, but money is money and i’m never gonna buy an inferior product just because it’s the brand i happen to like, especially if it costs more than the better product. seems like there’s a lot of arrogance at dewalt HQ which keeps leading to silly decisions like this and the lack of innovation in their products. i would hope even the most loyal yellow guys would eventually open their eyes and ears and see they’re often not getting their money’s worth.

ShuutrMember since Jun 2015

About the locks. Someone pointed out that the two locks on the top are the same. Take the drawer lock and swap it with the bottom cart lock. Now you have one main key with matching locks with a drawer with a unique lock. Much more useful.

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

I switched my locks. It took all of 15 minutes to swap the locks, taking all the drawers out to gain access took more time than anything.

I did the swap on mine as well, but it took me a little longer. I put the internal parts down besides each other, walked away to do something else, when I came back I put the same parts back in the same locks and had to do it all over again.

Tools and beer do not mix.  🙁

This is the same thing that happened with my DeWalt Yellow box, it said Out of Stock – Discontinued, then a few weeks later I received an email they were back in stock.

I think HD buys the tool boxes in big batches to see if they sell well. it also helps with keeping inventory low:(

DiverDnMember since Jan 2015

I’ve started to see them at a couple of local stores. So there is some in the supply chain.

That would make sense. They take up tons of space so they wouldn’t want too many on hand just for logistics reasons.

Just found out today most of the CT stores will have them back in stock at the end of November!!!!!!!  ;D Time to buy them all up haha!

I was wondering the same thing. I have been thinking about getting the Husky like dan and Eric shoot their reviews on. If the Milwaukee comes back I just may have to wait a bit.

I’ve been getting told this box won’t hold up in an automotive shop but i guess i’ll have to wait til November… If i can keep the greedy Snap-on guy and his 8,000.00 toolboxes away

Lol, one thing I’d say is the gritty matte finish, feels like medium grit sandpaper, will probably get dirtier and be a little difficult to keep clean in a grease filled environment. The drawers and pulls are more conventional semigloss powder coat which aren’t a problem but everywhere you see red is the matte powdercoat. I love my box and I think structurally it’d be fine but just FYI.

Was super siked to finally score one of these. Unfortunately when I opened it up the bottom was pretty seriously damaged. I contacted Milwaukee but they told me to just take it up with HD. However HD has none in stock again so I’m not sure what I can do in the mean time or when I’ll be able to get a new bottom. Kind of feeling screwed right now.

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

WOW! That must have been crushed by a forklift or something to buckle like that. They are packaged up so well its ridiculous but that’s no minor ding you got!  It does suck having to return something that is such a pita to get home and unpacked…

krutonMember since Jun 2015

That is frustrating man. Hopefully they can do something for you.

Tell me about it. Barley fit the set in my SUV too. IDK what did the damage but it was something really heavy.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Oh man that sucks bro I would try milwaukee again and letting them know that HD has no more keep bugging them.

Maybe the Home Depot guys were watching that vid Dan and Eric took at the Milwaukee event of how strong their steel is so they wanted to see if would hold up. No matter what happened thats minor… just remember if that was a husky box or other cheap box it would be flattened like a pancake.

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

I don’t see HD having any issues taking it back. The problem is they are not in stock in many places because they sell out and there might not be any stock for a replacement. That and the fact that these SOB’s are heavy and packed like nuclear warheads making them a pain to deal with. I managed to get the two pieces into my basement and lift the chest on top by myself but It was a struggle even after taking all the drawers out, and I’m not a weakling lol.

JerryNYMember since Jun 2015

Also just got the Fuel 7-1/4 saw and it looks good hung on the side:

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

U thinking about keeping it Jerry?

DR99Member since Nov 2012

The problem is I don’t think Milwaukee has these in their own warehouse. They come over in the shipping container right too Home Depot. The other thing is you can’t ship something like this UPS you have to use an special LTL courier which costs more and they might not have an account. I don’t know if Milwaukee sells anything else that big and heavy. Still they should make things right!!

The tool chest or saw? I’m not returning either. The saw with the 60tooth Diablo still has balls for cordless tool and feels great, I was testing it out and really like it. The chest I love too. Built like a tank, I can’t believe the photos of the one above buckling like that. I’d think the box too would have been trashed but something must have really put some force down on it to do that kind of damaged during shipping or at the factory in Vietnam..

You’re confusing my posts with the other guys who’s was damaged. Mine is fine, I only posted comments commiserating with him that it would indeed suck to have to return this beast, not that I need to return mine.

WelI ended up having to find it myself. Went to HD pro desk and used their computer to locate the only store that happened to be 30 miles away that had one 1 box in stock. Bit of a hassle but I’m happy with the box overall. Although I seem to have filled it up more then I thought I would.

Yea…I’m not really sure what they could have done about it considering very few stores have stock. I don’t understand how these things are so hard to get a hold of. I would think they would want to keep these in stores considering how well they seemed to sell.
