I purchase a pack of 4 1/2 thin cut of wheels. Which are the wrong type.
they lay too flat in the grinder and rub. they should be concave like a dish. is there a 7/8 arbor adapter, or should I go out and buy the right cut off wheels
There are adapters that will work. If you visit your local Home Depot, they should have something that will work for you. Having the proper cut off wheel should work better and is your safest route.
