Looking to expand my garage tools been looking for new set of screwdrivers. I have a set of snap on at work but not wanting to spend $175 on another set and tired of bring them back and forth to work. I like the Weras unique handles and Phillips head design. Also like the familiarity of the Klein. Any other recommendations from the crew would be appreciated.

I really like PB Swiss screwdrivers with the “Swiss Grip” handles. They are a bit pricy, but they are really well made and the Santoprene handles are very comfortable in the hand. You can check them out at Tool Lady or Count on Tools.

BK13Member since Nov 2013

I have Wiha and Felo, and like them both. I’ve played with Wera, and liked to give them a try. I’d also like to try PBS Swiss as well.

Turner85Member since Jun 2015

I can vouch for the wera, I use there chisel driver screwdriver set and pozi impaktor bits. Both are great but can’t compare to klein as I’ve never used

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

I’ve got the Wera and a couple of Klein drivers and love them both. The Weras have the engraved tips to prevent cam out and they are really comfortable. My Klein tools are just awesome and my biggy….USA made. But Wera screwdrivers are awesome and I got for them first. I would like to try the Wiha drivers out as well as Felo.

WeldfabNeilMember since May 2015

If I were you I would give proto duratek some consideration. I have a few sets at home an work. I would take them over snap on screw drivers any day.

Price point isn’t cheap but there still cheaper then the snap ons.

Another wera vote.

rrich1Member since Jun 2015

I was thinking of picking up some weras. I like the etched tps for extra grip.

Wiha, wera,Felo are my go to brands for screwdrivers,The handles are a great fit even with large hands.  Kleins are good too,as are several others like the Protos mentioned above, personally for me its all how they feel in the hand.

Not screwdrivers but I just won an offer on this kit on eBay for $75 minus $16 I had in my paypal account. Big…..BIG…..differ eve in actual cost. Totally worth it and will be a great addition to my Festool kit I just got.

That’s a hell of deal. Let us know how that wera ratchet works out.

Thanks Mondo, I couldn’t believe they accepted my offer on that one. I might shoot a quick unboxing video when it gets in as I’ve heard this is a killer set.

Proto Duratc Sets from Zoro.com

You can thank me later

Proto ftw

Used wiha, wera and bahco now onto Irazola, hands down the best drivers I’ve ever used and I’m using them on a daily basis as an electrician.

jrsalasMember since Jun 2015

Wera bro. Hands down, buddy at work has them and they are sick. Id say as good as snap on. If on low budget, Milwaukee. I recently picked one up and they’re nice for the price.

. Bro u got a nice set up there man I’m definitely gonna check these out man.

Wera.

I have been using mine for 2 years. Comfort, grip and torque are better than Klein. I find the tips are better too. Grips the screw better and the robertsons don’t round off.

Since you are using them in a garage i’m gonna add on to everyone else and say Proto Duratek Screwdrivers.

I like my Milwaukee screwdrivers. They’re good for everyday beaters. One thing I really don’t like though is the fact that Milwaukee screwdrivers only have a + or – on the handle. There’s nothing to indicate tip size, length or anything else. I’m slowly switching over to Klein drivers for just this reason.

I had dewalt ones that had zero indication and had to use a sharpie to identify. U can see them. You can see them on the left side of the bag. All they had was blue and red wich really sucked. As far as size i had positioned the smaller sizes down low.

I HATE Klein screwdrivers. It’s not that they are poor quality but they are a poor design…don’t get me wrong, the rubber handle is great but because of the balance point, they don’t lay on the rubber ridges on the grip…so they roll off everything. I really like trilateral designs because they just plop down and rest where you put them. I’m fond of my Witte maxxpro plus but I see a HUGE following for Wera. Wera might be the next addition to my tool box.

You are reading it wrong, the #1 Phillips is an “x” , while the #2 is a “+” .

Hope that helps!

You forgot to mention about the Flat Heads:

Capital “I” for a #2

Minus “-” symbol for a #1

Wera has just announced their Autumn Promo’s.  The screwdriver set is pretty comprehensive and they won’t roll off the work bench.  The chisel drivers are my favorite.  Beat the hell out of them and then use them as a pry bar…or a not-so-subtle beer can opener.  L-keys are some of the best around.

Late to the party, I’m guessing @Mondo1310 already purchased a set. Just wanted to add my vote for the Wiha’s. Microfinish, specifically. Very slight gritty finish, clean up real easy.

Buy European screwdrivers, Klein screwdrivers suck in comparison, so do Snap on.

Man, these are a nice set of screwdrivers. I’ve only recently been aware of companies like Wiha, Wera, Felo, Gedore, Knipex, etc…

Right now, as far as screwdrivers go, I only have Klein and Milwaukee. I actually prefer my Milwaukee set because they fit nicely in my toolbags and pouches. I’m gonna pickup a Wera set soon and try them out

rrich1Member since Jun 2015

I actually put my weras in my truck tool box. I think they are great drivers but other grips are more comfortable to me. I have a set of n.o.s napa wittes and love them. think $25 for an 8 piece set. I then ordered a few other wittes and the are currently my favorite. I have a set of wiha insulted and the are a very close second. Recently got some gedore striker screwdrivers. not nearly enough time on them yet. very good quality though.

BababooeyHTJMember since May 2013

I’m not big on wera. Decent screwdriver. I’m just not sure that they don’t round off faster than klein.

Wiha on the other hand. Those live to the hype. Damn things take a beating.

DerekTheToolGuyMember since Nov 2016

I got the Milwaukee screwdrivers and I love them for the price I paid what’s was $3 for the set new at the flea market and also have a few more from the pawn shop for 1 buck each.I think the tips are strong and its not hard to grab size you need as smaller tip screwdrivers have smaller handles and like the wire looper and stripper built in on the bigger ones. Im going to buy a wera set as they are only $35 a set on ebay. You cant beat that im just stumped to what set to buy as there are a bunch of different ones…Im kinda leaning towards the the yellow chisel drivers.

The Wera screwdrivers are very nice. You can get a good deal on them at Sears with points and coupon codes every now and then. The SK screwdrivers get good reviews as well, but can get a little pricey. The thing I like about Kliens is that they have the markings on the end of the handles to tell you what it is. This is very helpful if you have them in a tool bag or something similar.

I may get some flack for this but these craftsman “diamond coated” screwdrivers are not bad at all. They really get a good grip on less than perfect fasteners. you can pick a set up as a backup set for cheap with points.

FYI

The Wera’s are also marked on the top of the drivers to show you what is what in a tool bag

Yes you are correct. I guess I didn’t notice it on mine since I have them hanging on a wall with the holder that they include with the sets.

plumbfitterMember since Oct 2016

Im no Wera expert. I just recently received my first set of drivers.

I have used Klein for many years and already prefer Wera over the klein stuff. They are both very nice drivers, but the added comfort in the Wera grip and the laser etched tip and the MUCH cheaper price just kick’s klein’s ass

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

I like that holder a lot. I mounted one horizontal under a shelf at my workbench at work. I put two screws through the bottom and then the two mount holes. I even ended up drilling extra holes for two other screwdrivers. The price for Wera screwdrivers is ridiculously cheap for what you get. Adding the PH3 hurts a little since it’s $20. Wiha and Felo are reasonable too.

Wera also fits screws better than Klein and Snap On.

Good news is that I can’t use the, “if I didn’t already have them” excuse anymore. 😀

Micro driver set is the best built set of micro screwdrivers I’ve ever used.

Yeah I am pretty happy with the set and the price I got from KC was awesome!
