Some kind of composite/Masonite type of stuff my wife gets form work. I use it for tons of different things. Takes nailing with the brad nailer pretty good, takes gluing with the glue gun really good too. It’s pretty versatile stuff, I try to get it as much as I can because I use it for a lot of stuff.

Awesome!!

This is what i grew up on while younger, then dad switched strictly to roofing in my early teen years. All kinds of fun…

Looks like you’re going to swallow that little entrance doorway, but i’m assuming it’s going to stay because the electrical is coming in there?

lol, yeah thats gotta stay, odd ball local lake front codes prevent “new” construction on this lake so to get around it there has to be a certain amount of existing structure, had to goto the zoning board more than a few times over it, but thats not my problem lol.  The electrical is “temp” not exactly sure where its going to end up but sure looks permanent, it actually was moved there recently.

Worked on drawing a house plan in Revit today for school. First floor is mostly complete. Just doing more interior work now. Did a lot with the kitchen this week and learned a lot about the program. I made sure to include a dedicated room for a shop cause TIA for life. Also did a purdy render of the unfinished kitchen. It took over an hour to complete. Looks almost real.

Almost got it complete, but ran short a little piece of cedar, and forgot some screws! D’oh!

So i’m going to disassemble everything now that I get it how I want it, sand it a bit, seal it up and put it back together with some stainless screws

And of course, i didn’t think about getting the sand either, we’ll have to get some at a later date, when it warms up more

Very cool, that’s the type of work i grew up on but with a much larger body of water in front of us… Dad built houses along lake Michigan, just him and the crew, my brother and I got immersed in that from early on,

I’m about an hour east of Lake Mi, got a buddy that wanted me to work on a project over there, but I had already committed to this one. it’s basically just my brother-in-law and I on the build, ya we call in some help from time to time and have some trades guys in here and there but most of it is the 2 of us.  My old man was a GC and I remember being on a roof with him when I was 6 so.  All my life I’ve been around building is some shape or form so when I lost my “real” job about 5 years ago(but that’s another story) I called an uncle (he’s a GC too) and been busy ever since.

Well spent some quality time with my 887&886 the past 2 days, I got a wee bit of a project, a doctor’s office had some water damage so insurance is paying for a 50% +/- remodel of the place. 3 rooms get top to bottom new “kitchen” cabinets and tops, new floor, trim, and a bathroom.  887 spent most of the time in mode 1 for cabinet and drawer assembly while 886 was doing mounting duty.  Am I too lazy to flick the switch to 2 or 3 on the 887?

Yep! if ya got em use em!

Side note, Ya know its kinda funny when half of the time I go to look for my impact my brother-in-law has it while his GenX 5 is sitting right there…. I mean LITERALLY right next to him while he’s using mine!

Something small, just a test piece on a cheap piece of scrap from the lumber yard. I have a nicer piece of cherry I will make the real one out of, then I will try to do larger pieces. This all started when I saw a post on IG, I liked it but she seemed to refuse to talk about how she did it…so I did some trial and error and figured out a way to do it.

I used my antique routers from my pawn shop find a couple months back. First time doing a lot of stuff I did on here, don’t do much woodwork other than shelves and fences…trying to do more. I want to also eventually do optical illusion cutting boards.

Thanks! Yeah that was crazy warm weather and then it got cold and Friday it snowed a bunch but warmed up a bit so the snow is gone again.

I actually thought it was a slick idea for a sandbox. I think if I do it again, or feel like making modifications at all, it will be to beef up the back rest braces with something thicker. It’s only for little kids but they can be awful rough on things!

Cleaned and lubed the garage door rollers and shifted the door over. For some reason it’s been riding all the way to the right, finally said “fuck it” and slid it back to somewhat center. Stained a plaque. Refilled the spray bottle of cleaner/degreaser. Took apart the grease gun to find the grease turned gummy, said “fuck it” again and put it back together. I’ll deal with it another time. Reorganized the socket drawer a little bit. Cleaned/waxed the headlights on my car. Cleaned the dash and the inside of the doors. Vacuumed the car.

JronmanMember since May 2016

Well cleaned some windows yesterday and the day before. The glass had stain and finish on it. I would’ve expected our guys to do a better job at stain and finish. I wonder if my boss was mad or anything.

Been at this place place since January and I’ve yet to see a single fish in this lake, granted it’s been ice covered most of the time but it’s probably because the alligators ate all the fish 🙂

I finally had enough of the chaos in my shop, so I decided to start cleaning stuff out. Every winter I accumulate a real mess from trying to do everything inside but with all the work going on with the house, it was especially bad this year.

In order to do anything with the shop, I had to first clean the building out. Man did I fuck up. I have a 7×14 trailer FULL of shit to go to the dump. It’s all shit I have no idea why we ever thought about keeping in the first place.

I was able to get most of the excess bulky shit out of the shop and into the building, and actually got started cleaning out the shop. I have so much crap stuffed anywhere it will fit it’s not even funny. Hardware, scrap metal, cable, chain, all shit I can’t justify throwing away, But I’ve got to find some organization.

man that’s my work a LOT

How many cuts? I’ll tell you right now the Diablo carbide thick metal cutting blade will do better and last longer if you cut your speed to about half to keep the heat down….. then just bear down on the pipe…

That’s what I love about the onekey sawzall, i set it to 1500 strokes per minute, then pull the trigger and it holds that speed.  Then when i cut through it completely it stops the saw dead because it’s through the cut.. pretty awesome for tight spots where cast snapper is a no go…

But I would love to get this cast snapper to try in the press tools at work:

It’s a Ridgid jaw and goes up to 4″

Ima say we got around 24 cuts that day. Not sure how good that is or not. I tried to go slower cause I knew the blades would last longer. Seemed like the blades last awhile. We got most of the pipe cut out today. I enjoyed the work. Was challenging figuring out where to cut. Hardest part was making sure the pipe didn’t clamp on the blade. Does that press tool cut the pipe? Do you still instal cast iron pipe or does plastic and copper pipe only get installed?

Cr8ondtMember since May 2016

Grrrrrrr 2 days of trim… Hitachi miter and I have been having grown up conversations about the stupid Rockwell table saw… Kinda funny 3 windows alone needed 72 cuts!  That’s not counting any base, doors, or odd ball crap, almost every cut required a 1/8 mile hike…….. Each way……… The DeWalt OMT got a workout too, actually that was kinda fun, battery saw had some fun too

Well…that beats the shit out of the bed frame I made for my daughter. Good work!!

Hold the accolades until he moves it up a flight of stairs ?

Are those 2×6 cross beams?

As for me, with the forecast calling for rain and snow, I went ahead and mowed for the first time this year. If I’d waited until next week I’d have had to borrow my neighbor’s bailer.

I waited too long really. Most people have already mowed twice ?. I was using a 3 cylinder diesel Tractor, but it might have been a struggle for a mere mortal mowing apparatus.

Odd too because I’m typically the first one to mow and firmly believe the two most important days of the year are the first time you mow and the last time you mow.

I should check my yard to see if it is ready to mow but I’m not sure the mower is back from its yearly tuneup.

That’s pretty cool. I’d love to be able to free hand stuff like that, but I just don’t have that kind of artistic touch.

One more day and my shop will be the leanest and most organized it’s been in a long time. It’s been ground zero for every project imaginable sine we moved in and I had accumulated an insane amount of clutter. By the time I get everything loaded I will have gotten rid of 2 7×14 trailer loads of excess shit.

I’m still putting stuff off until I redo my shop next year, but I can’t go another year with no place to do anything. I’ve got so much shit backed up to do it isn’t even funny.

No none at all, the headboard is made out of labels nailed to cross members, screwed into the header and posts, headboard has 3 5″ lag bolts on each side, joists are attached with GRX screws, (those attached the head and footboard posts to the panel too)

The footboard has lag screws (SPAX) running
