This is cool to see. This picture just popped up on Twitter.
Amazing!
Damn!! So Awesome I hope they are not too expensive!!

I agree. I expected to see 6.0 but 9.0 would be better.
Now we need some compact 4.5 M12 batteries.
Monster size pack.
I assumed they were the same physical size as the 4.0 5.0 batteries. Just better cells in the battery. I’m interested to see how they got it done.
Wow that’s amazing.

Huge. If it’s even remotely well priced, this thing leaves the rest of the pack playing catch-up. Yes, I’m master of the obvious.
Think of the power demands they can satisfy with a battery like this. Question: Charge time? Probably won’t matter. A day use, and recharge.

It appears to be the same size as the 4.0/5.0
Just saw on the live feed. Three rows of batteries in the pack. So it must be a 5s3p pack (5 in series 3 in parallel)
So that would make them 3ah cells like the 6ah packs.
3ah + 3ah + 3ah to get 9ah
Impressive. Picture I saw of the standalone pack looked bigger
Wonder what the charge time is!!
The dual charger shows 3amp output. So rough math would say 3hrs not accounting for any ramp down.DR99 wrote:

I wander how fast these cells could safely be charged. I have a charger for my RC stuff that can charge at 40amps.

HOLLY CRAP!!! They were like, how do we overdrive this b**** to get engine like horse power on these things. One guy said, I know, lets stick a 9.0 battery on there! The other guy says, get serious, you know how much that will cost the consumer? Another guy says, yeah but he’ll buy it if he wants the best, cause it will send the compitition into the dust. HAHA! 😀
They must be serous about wanting to cut the cord.
Holy crap are you freakin’ serious?!?!
I though they were updating the M28 line to fuel but it seems like the M18 is the platform Milwaukee wants to use.
I just googled the 9.0 nothing there. Is this a concept or something?
It should just take a bit to come to market after its introduction.
Mechanical-hub is saying over 2x the run time of 5.0 batteries.
so if there at 9.0, when does it end? 15.0?
To speculate on tech in the lab. How about self charging? 1 year no charge?
Either way, 9.0 may last some folks at least a year on a single charge. Ha!
This thing is a bomb. Any one thinking about 5.0s or 6.0s any more?
If the price on the 9.0an isn’t too crazy that’s a good option for high draw tools like the saws and demo hammers. The drills and impacts I would prefer high capacity slim packs
Another one from Twitter

No doubt now it’s a 5s3p pack.

That is seriously impressive. Say goodbye to corded tools.
And any doubt that it isn’t bigger than a standard XC pack.
couple of these 9.0 batteries and you will be able to run a camp for the weekend…. leave the generator at home….

Yeah! does this mean a 3.0 ah slim pack?!
I would love one or two or my grinder and saws but I would be lying if I said I would rather have this than a pair of 5.0s for my drills and impacts. I want to carry less weight wherever possible, not more. I would rather swap batteries at lunch than have one last me all day. 4.0s last me all day as it is.Doof wrote:

I hope so.
Sometimes the higher mah cells won’t have as high of discharge rating. So the cells in a 2s or 3s pack would put out plenty of amps for the tool, but might not have enough in a 1s slim pack.
I think the 9.0 amp hour comes out q1 2016
Any idea on price Eric? This is going to blow the competition away. Seriously, we’re trying to get 5 amp batteries and BAM! 9 amp be-hotches!!!!! IN YOUR FACE!!!!!!
I could seriously use that for my angle grinder and portable bandsaw. Very nice, can’t wait to see what they cost.

My thoughts exactly…Milwaukee’s like “Pssshhh…5 amp hour? BAM! Take a look at this big 9 inche..r…umm amp hour”
Wouldn’t be surprised to see these batteries costing $200 here in Canada at first. Regular price for 4.0 and 5.0 is 139.99, can be found for 100. My regular retailer also told me prices got raised last spring due to falling dollar, and have noticed it at HD etc. That said I would still rather have a mix of compacts, 5.0 and a 9.0 than the half dozen 4.0 I currently have.
wow.
total shocker.
this really is the end for most corded tools.
those really could power all kinds of tools like table saws, routers, larger bandsaws,
We are in the midst of an energy revolution. This is a sign of that. Hopefully this thing will be relatively affordable for those who need it and the cost for cells will start to drop the price of the smaller batteries.
Man whata devastating blow to the competition milwaukee really has me thinking right now……Red or Yellow Red or Yellow Red or Yellow Hmmmmmmm…..
That is insane! They are really blasting the other guys with this one! Excited to see more!
DeWalt’s show especially seems like a distant memory. A good chunk of what I saw from them were yellow versions of 2 year old red tools, and just days later Milwaukee shows the future of cordless tools. Exciting times to already be invested in the red system.
Dewalt does have some big positives like the new miter saw, and nailers. Some of the stuff being made in the USA is pretty big too. From a few comments Dan made Milwaukee is looking into bringing more manufacturing here. It would have been nice to see Milwaukee release some nailers, but its not really their market either. They sell more trade oriented than general contractor tools. They do have overlap, but its not their big push.
Seems odd that they also didn’t come out with a two stack 6.0 Ah battery since the 9 is a three stack (and a 1 stack 3.0 Ah battery like others have said).
They likely will Eltoro, maybe closer to when the big battery releases in the future.
I may have heard wrong but I thought Dan said they were there today.eltoro wrote:

He also said there was no news about 3.0 compact packs
I looked at the link Doof provided to the new tool on the Milwaukee site.
They are showing a new rapid charger.

I noticed that charger as well, a much needed update. Rob Robillard tweeted Mikwaukee says nailers are a year or two away.
