My DeWALT rep said the bluetooth batteries will come next month indeed.

The App for the Bluetooth batteries has now gone live on the App Store too…

Yup, I’ve seen it. Already on my phone, but not a darn bluetooth battery in sight 😉

You are on the ball Mr Yellow….

I might be biased, but I quite like the ‘Cover Photo’ in the App…

Here is a few pictures of my new toy!!! and the one it is replacing!!!

I got the phone call from James at my local tool shop, and I was there in less than an hour to pick it up!!!

They received 75 units with 5 amp batteries and had 50 already on back order.

In the time it took me to get to them to pick it up, the other 15 had gone!!!!

I am so glad I pre ordered mine!!

Just have to wait till Tuesday until I can put it to work due to it being bank holiday Monday!!!!

I had one in my hands in my local store today.

I had to use every bit of willpower to not buy it.

I was strong at the time but  now im starting to have a longing for it.

I know Monday I will give in and buy it

I had the Paslode IM65A not too long ago until it was stolen!! which is why I have the older Dewalt, as seen it the pictures. I got it to put me on until the DCN660 came out!!!

Having used all three now, I don’t think that there is much difference between the older Dewalt and the new in size as you can tell from the pictures it is only slightly smaller.

I am sure I read somewhere that Dewalt had reduced the weight by around a 1 kg??? I cant feel it if it is!!

It is still a lot bigger and heavier than the Paslode. I have not fully used it on a job yet, but from playing around with it, it seems to put the nails in better then the old Dewalt and about the same as the Paslode.

Hard woods are the real test, and the old Dewalt had problems sending the nails home in the likes of an oak nule post cap. The new one seems to be fine doing this.

To be honest the weight does not bother me anymore because I am used to the older one. It has a better shaped grip and for some reason it doesn’t feel as cumbersome or as top heavy.

Hope this is some help.

Just being picky, all the pre-production models and those seen on reviews I have seen had a white/clear no-mar rubber noise piece.

Just wondering why the went back to a black rubber noise piece, like the old version??

Turner85Member since Jun 2015

No sign of it shipping in tstaks yet?

midogrumpyMember since Jan 2010

In germany the bare unit dcn660n ships in a tstak deep box

It is part of the so called akku plus program

All bare tools ship in a tstak

In uk the dcn660 ships in a carboard carton

No idea, but black looks better imho. Or they could’ve made a yellow one 😀

what’s the difference between that charger and the normal one. the newer one is smaller but does it charge slower

Alan m wrote:

Yes it is a slower charge time.

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

Dewalt is killing me with all these new chargers. It’s absolutely mystifying to me…is dewalt suddenly concerned with battery longevity justifying these ultra slow chargers? What is going on here?

Personally I’d take half the number of good battery cycles to double the charging speed. Screw longevity, I need performance because these batteries are getting BIG. I can’t wait 4 hours to charge a 5Ah battery when some tools can kill it in 20-30min. Hell nobody in the industry can.

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

The compact charger has been around for a while, but I’ve never seen it in a kit tbh.

It’s not really meant for 4.0 and 5.0Ah batteries. Ofcourse you can charge them, but it takes a long time. It’s aimed at the compact batteries afaik.

One came with the Cordless Miter saw too. I just don’t understand the benefit of a compact charger, even for compact batteries. Seems completely inferior to me to reduce performance like that.

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

The long wait is finally over  🙂

Must admit, in the pictures it looks more bulky than in reality. Has a good feel to it. It’s a sweet bit of kit.

So hey, where’s the 18gauge…  ::)

As for the compact charger. I now have one. Didn’t know the D2 kit comes with this charger.

If I had known this upfront I would’ve got the P2 kit (5.0Ah)

One positive thing though, it has hang holes on the bottom, something it’s bigger brother is missing.

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

Looks great, give it some abuse and report back with a proper review. What it does good. What it does bad.

Excited for some real world reviews on this gun

I got a compact charger with my drywall gun. I had a 5.0 in it and after 30mins both battery and charger were red hot. I Don’t understand why they would make this

I’m sure I’m not the only one who caught Mr. Yellow’s eye roll here…why must you tease me with your vague emojis? JK, super excited to get the finish nailer stateside and salivate over a cordless 18ga little brother.

i’d be curious how it compares to the cordless paslode 16ga if you have one.

Framer I have the older version of these guns and have found it a vast improvement on the paslode. We use it for fitting out houses and find it gives a much more consistent depth of drive than the paslode as well as virtually no maintenance. I can’t wait for this to be available in Australia and hope they are as good and reliable as the older version.
Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Will be a while before I have a job to use it extensively. I did some testshots ofcourse.

First thing, it’s lighter than the old one (DC618). I would say the weight-to-size is near perfect. Maybe it’s because I have 2.0Ah batteries on there.

Also, it’s faster. The motor spins up faster. Couldn’t compare it side by side because I gave away my DC618 a couple weeks ago. Also it’s a bit more quieter. Shoots faster too. You can really bump fire the hell out if, but I mainly use single shot. It’s a finish nailer after all.

Other advantages over the old model are a better belthook. The old plastic one was just shitty. Now there’s a metal one.

Better lights although I will have to test this in dim light conditions. They are positioned on the base and not above the nosepiece like the old one.

Easier depth adjustment with a little scale so it’s easier to dial it in.

So far I’m very happy with it.

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

Sweet. I watched a video where the guy was bump firing the hell out if it like you said, and it didn’t seem to be setting the nail all the way down. Not sure what length it was shooting but it should be capable of shooting the longest nail to full depth, which is my biggest concern.

Rtorres092382Member since Sep 2014

Wasn’t this nailer supposed to be available in Sept. In the states or does that mean we probably won’t see it until October?

Gatorb888Member since Nov 2013

Mid to late October here in the US

Awesome to hear some sort of confirmation. Any chance you can divulge in store pricing?

Gatorb888Member since Nov 2013

No, I can’t comment on pricing, sorry.

AJBMember since Sep 2013

From my experience, general rule of thumb is look at the UK prices and that’s what you will probably pay in dollar.

Finally a date to look forward too. I need this tool last year.

Rtorres092382Member since Sep 2014

Just got an email from Tool Nut regarding the finish nailer and a boatload of new tools available at the mid way point of the month. Looms like the finish nailer, min/max blower, and a few other tools will be available on or around 10/14. Get your excitement going gentlemen and check your emails.

I just saw the same email. More interested in the Tough System radio and chainsaw though. …The wait has been long enough!

Why hasn’t their been any pre-order pages available for the DCN660? Normally HD or somebody will have a information page up before release…

regopitMember since Feb 2013

Just ordered one today. Just wondering how long it will take to get here.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Let me know what you think Regopit. I almost pulled the trigger at Toolnut. Pretty pricey but I love my framer and I wouldn’t mind giving it a shot. I still haven’t bought the air strike finisher yet so….

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

So why is this only coming with one battery? The EU versions are 2 battery kits…2Ah and 5Ah.

regopitMember since Feb 2013

Hugh Jass wrote:

How are they going to sell you extra battery’s if they give you 2. It is the american way just give them enough and then sell them more.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

It allows Dewalt to set the price cheaper. I think a few of the kits that come with 5ah batteries only ship with one battery now.
