Check out this news paper under the hard wood of this old house im demoing its from march 1923 damn its about time this old house gets a make over
Wow that’s crazy!
Ya the sub floor is old planks of wood coverd with new paper and tar paper no wonder old house could burn down so easy the whole house is an ignition system lol it would be crazy being a carpenter in the 1920s though
when I was doing our stairs I found Sept 1907 newspaper glued to underside of stair treads, no idea why they would do that? cut down on noise? not sure….
I love finding old gems like that. These are a couple bottles I found while doing our house. Found a few old tools too.
poison those are some cool bottles whats the year on that RC bottle? I cant believe they’ve been around for so long
1936. It was buried in my crawlspace, I almost placed concrete over it.
thats one of my favorite things to do when doing finish carpentry before i hang a cabinet i will usually write my name and date behind it and in 20 years when they redo the kitchen maybe they’ll find it. i found this once when i was removing wall paper.
Ya thats a good idea befor i got into frameing i was a flat roofer and befor we torched this big ass roof me and this other guy signed and dated thw plywood with the black primer so in 20 or 30 years when someone re-roofs it they will see
