New Milwaukee tool storage options?

So this is on Milwaukee Tools Twitter account, it’s a conversation they’re having about festool systainers and then Milwaukee chimed in. Does this mean new storage options??

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

I hope so! I have been waiting for Milwaukee to join in. Gunna be tough to beat my Dewalt tough box.

DarynHMember since Feb 2015

They just replied to me, “oh, it means what you think it means”

DarynHMember since Feb 2015

I would love to see some new storage solutions!

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

Any guesstimate on a timeframe?

Ben WoodruffMember since Mar 2015

Something like the tough boxes with drawers would be great!

DarynHMember since Feb 2015

I can’t get a timeframe from them, maybe we’ll see something at the media even in June

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

It’s about time. Seriously! Get on the bandwagon Milwaukee! I wonder if it’ll be similar to the Dewalt Toughsystem?

DarynHMember since Feb 2015

I’m really on the fence about what I hope to see, systainer, tough box….I just hope it’s something good!

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Yeah and so long as it’s modular. They have posted pics of a modular system in Europe, supposedly a third party manufacturer (like Systainer – Tanos and l boxx – Sortimo).

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Wow there first batch of tool boxes were ok but I can’t wait to c what they come out with next !

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

Maybe they will bring back the Titan tool cart, I discovered that after it was gone.

DarynHMember since Feb 2015

Guess we’ll see in June!

NIIICE!!!
BremonMember since Dec 2014

Hell yeah, I have a few tough boxes but would love more options.

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Hopefully it’s better then their last boxes they came up.

khariVMember since Dec 2014

I actually really like my job box. I use it to haul around the seemingly endless number of task specific tools and supplies that every project seems to need. I’ve got my everyday carry tool bag, but it is quite packed and there’s no room for caulk, outlets, extra wire, wood putty, sand paper, etc. The odd little job box has saved me from hauling it all around the house in an old cardboard box.

Don’t get me wrong … I’ll be all over some a red version of the tstak/tough box system too.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

That’s cool you’re using it kdv. I haven’t bought one, I’m pretty well immersed in a couple of modular systems in my shop but I’ve played around with both boxes at HD. My only gripe is modular. For me, I have a small shop and keeping everything stacked is a big deal. I’ve got a couple of boxes that aren’t part of my modular set up and I knock them over, shove them under tables etc to keep them out of the way. I think North Americans want what they have introduced over in Europe…..here!

MilwaukeenutMember since Sep 2014

This I can’t wait for. I want the roiling tool box bad and would like to see milwaukee come out with a storage containers like the dewalt boxes.

I would love to see a rolling box/cart option plus a nesting box system. I was going to buy the tough boxes but I’m going to wait now to see what Milwaukee comes up with.

JeremyJMember since Apr 2014

I’m so glad I just saw this today. I finally saw the Ridgid setup in action yesterday and was sold. I was going to go buy it today….whew. I do like the 26″ jobsite box and have bought one, using it everyday. Knowing that they have a modular box system and nailers coming, it’s gonna be an expensive year.

MikeyBMember since Dec 2014

Looking forward to see what they come out with, was getting ready to pull the trigger on either Dewalt or the Ridgid…

frankiegarcia19Member since Jan 2014

Im still waiting for the mechanica tool storage.. Id like to check it out at HD whrn its out

jonathan-mMember since Apr 2015

Well all they need to do to have a slam dunk is license the gigantic range of tanos systainers. That way their tool storage will be compatible with the majority of the other tool brand out there. Festool, mafell, makita, metabo, mirka, bti, hitachi, triton, lamello, the list goes on.

But most likely theyll just try to reinvent the wheel like dewalt did and start from scratch with a completely new and non compatible small range…

Its so simple to get this right Milwaukee, but youll probably just shoot yourself in the foot. Dont be stupid and just license the already insanely popular systainers. Especially in Europe many work trucks and vans are specifically designed around the systainer tool box system.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Welcome to the forum Jonathan-m. Oh, I couldn’t agree with you more about that the tool storage. I’ve got four different modular systems, two Dewalts, a bunch of l boxxes and many systainers. My favorites are my t locs. Not as durable as the Dewalt tough system but it is infinitely useful to have these in my shop. They’re the best. That could go with Sortimo too. They are great boxes and have a decent foot print…

I was looking at some M18 videos on youtube today and I stumbled upon this unboxing video of the M18 Fuel grinder in a box I hadn’t seen before.

https://youtu.be/CGquyDBXqvA

I think the cat’s out of the bag and this is one of their new boxes they were hinting about.

If I’m right, it’s as I feared and it looks like they tried to do their own thing, which is again incompatible with the other systems already out there.

Might as well have saved themselves the trouble and just kept the old cases.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

The video link doesn’t work Jonathan I just wanted to let you know.

khariVMember since Dec 2014

I think that expecting Milwaukee just to license another company’s storage system wouldn’t be realistic. They are all about differentiating thier offerings from everyone else’s – the whole “500% tougher than the competition!” gig. I’m not saying that’s always the best approach or that it wouldn’t be nice to have red boxes that played nicely with systainers, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

What we really need is for all of the tool companies to come up with an open standard for boxes that everyone can use without paying royalties, but I think that’s probably also a pipe dream. Heck, dewalt doesn’t even make their tstak and tough boxes stack compatible.

Works for me on my iPhone. Here’s the link that the YouTube app gives me. I think it may be the same.

Stuart on Toolguyd just posted this.  http://toolguyd.com/milwaukee-organizer/.  It’s definitely not what I was expecting and to be honest, disappointing as well.  I think the market is saturated with these small parts organizers.  Don’t get me wrong, I think they are useful, but a tool / parts organizer would be a lot more desirable to me.  If Milwaukee would come out with one of those and actually have Home Depot stock them in the store, unlike Bosch’s L-boxx, I believe they would make a good profit just off of having them accessible to consumers and contractors who want something a little more organized than a bunch of tools scattered in various boxes.

khariVMember since Dec 2014

It’s possible that the small parts organizer is just the first available part of a larger system; at least I’m really hoping that this is the first part of a larger system with more options.  An organizer, while nice, isn’t going to be enough for me to ditch my existing boxes.

These boxes have been out for awhile in the UK. In fact you can buy them off eBay. I hope this isn’t what they are bringing here and that it is just the version of box the UK gets instead of the blow mold cases.

NERemodelingMember since Aug 2014

whomp whomp whomp.. hopefully they have more up their sleeve than that black case in the video and the parts organizers that popped up on a few review sites yesterday..

i too would have loved a milwaukee branded systainer..

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

They will, but I bet it’s a lot of $$$$

Ben WoodruffMember since Mar 2015

I would really like something like the systainer system (perhaps even compatible) but with slide out drawers!

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

It almost looks as if that parts organizer is like the tough system from Dewalt. Thick walled, positive stops for the small boxes inside….we’ll see.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

No way! Chirs they he said its going to be released soon

BremonMember since Dec 2014

I want something that’s tough as nails like the Tough System but is more customizable. I’m patiently waiting but I’m not expecting I’ll be upgrading. They will really need to blow me away.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Well I’ve been holding my breath for a quite a while now and am pretty happy with the storage options I have. I have to disagree about branding another companies boxes though. R&D will have been completed and they would need only make inserts for the boxes. This would allow a lot of cohesion for people like John, me and everybody else that has multiple box lines. Plus it would ensure that a box comes to fruition sooner than later and ensures no more going backwards and forwards with different boxes. I mean cmon. They have to know that there is an interest in tool storage for both the pro and the home wood shop like mine. Storage is a big deal when your working in a 20×20 area with little ceiling height. So….GET MOVING MILWAUKEE.

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

I agree Chris. I am a Milwaukee guy, born and bred that way. That being said I am getting very comfy with my dewalt tough box. It is everything I could ask for. For me to switch, big red is going to have to blow the doors off.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

They need to stop making everything so Dam red tho haha hope they are mostly black, I hate looking like a fan boy at work. Had to vent a lil bit sorry
