hell yea conductor I didn’t know about these till u guys there great even the guys at shop like them I have my 1/2 inch at the shop just to test them out and the mechanic really likes them I haven’t even used my snap on ones lol! I’m trying to pick up some proto tools next
madman_usMember since Sep 2014

which ones are better tekton or snap on?

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

ive had my snap-ons for about goin on 6yrs now and spent almost triple the price but these Tekton sets seem very well made also with the amount weve been using them to tie down cars on the frame machine and the mechanic using the crap out of them I feel that these are gonna last me a pretty long time.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

for the life of me I can not figure why snap-on was always more money……

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

man comp I don’t even go in the Snap-on truck as much any more when they come by

comp56Member since Sep 2014

years ago I told a sales guy off and kicked him off the property, told him don’t come back and if there are any guys in the shop that owe him he can deal with it at their house……

here is why….. I was shop foreman, had to deal with big boys up stairs on a regular basis…..snap-on truck would come every second friday at noon……..(obviously payday) any way there was on average 40 to 60 guys in the shop some times more anyway because there were so many that wanted to go visit the truck, the snap-on guy started coming earlier and earlier…5 to 12, 10 to 12,  quarter to 12 11:30…….I mentioned this several times that if he wanted come at 4:30 when guys were getting off shift…….he would say 12 noon will be fine…..this went on many times each time he would sneak in earlier and earlier……..one day we had a major job with 7 tractor trailers waiting to be loaded a boom truck waiting outside…..I come down stairs to see how long this will be and WTF? 20 minutes to 12 I got 35 guys outside waiting to get on the truck……….I snapped lost it kicked him out gone don’t come back……..

I am proud to say the most I have spent on snap-on tools was getting my dad a new battery and case for his 5500$ scanner the battery and case cost me 200$ it was for his birthday and I got a free tinny orange Flathead screwdriver that has a pocket clip and magnet witch has been well used but not often for what its intended for. That was also the only thing I have ever bought from snap-on and I hope it stays that way.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Yea Sam I’m witchu man with all these other brands coming out with great quality tools for a way nicer price.

Ok guys, first off let me apologize for being so absent lately. As you know, my job is an elected position and this is an election year, so with nominations out right now, trains blowing up on my line, and all the havoc caused by this crazy weather, it’s a very busy time for me.

I will impart my knowledge to the best of my ability:

Tekton impacts are made in Taiwan. This is literally decades better than China and most Taiwan manufacturers today can meet or (for some types of products) exceed the quality of US production. I’m not saying that’s the case with sockets, but Taiwan does very good.

The most common complaint about Tekton impact sockets is the fact they are made from CR-V (Chrome Vanadium) as opposed to CR-MO (Chrome Molybdenum) like most higher quality sockets. While it’s true that CR-MO is a higher grade steel in impact use and generally preferred, I’ve used the Tekton sockets both in my shop and in a racing environment without issue. They’ve taken everything my 1260 ft.-lb. impact can throw at them. If I were making a living with them and relying on them to feed my children, yea, I’d probably want CR-MO, but for my use the Tekton’s were just the ticket.

Snap-On……don’t get me started!

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013
