madman_usMember since Sep 2014

i dont know who exactly was talking about it but there was a post for hanging air filter

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Chris needs one for his shop

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

then he should better check this one out, good price and quality

pmiller383Member since Jul 2014

I was looking at this exact one a few weeks ago too, definitely going to have to snag it while its at this price.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

in the grizzly catalog its for $159

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks Madman….ORDERED!!! Your the best, man this is going to be a big deal for me. Thanks for posting and thanks for remembering Chad! $151.84 with two filters.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

your welcome man – glad i could help….

we wanna see another unboxing vid bro

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

You got it Madman. That is one heck of a deal and I really am thankful you posted it. Dust scares me pretty bad especially in my woodshop.

MikeyBMember since Dec 2014

Chris post a pic/video after you set it up

Samuel L.Member since Sep 2014

1 micron isn’t enough to take care of all the stuff that damages your lungs you need something that is good down to 0.1 microns and those things are not that great because they just pull air in and dump it out only 2 feet away from the intake just get a really good dust collector.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Coupled with a Hepa Midi this is a perfect fit. Plus high density filters will help even more. I will be looking into a direct vent to the outside through my dryer vent that I left in place just for this task when I moved the dryer over to the other side of my basement. This is actually a great fit for my shop.

MikeyBMember since Dec 2014

Chris if you can vent it to the outside that’s your best bet, instead of recirc. Keep us updated with the install of this bad boy…

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Yeah will do Mike, obviously I don’t own one yet so seeing how to attach a vent tube will probably be the hardest part but I’ve got the dryer vent already set up so…should be…..SHOULD be pretty straightforward

overanalyzeMember since Oct 2011

I don’t have the Grizzly but have an identical re-branded unit. They sell this unit under the ShopFox brand on Amazon and the Performax brand @ Menards. We take it on site during remodels and run it all day to help reduce the dust in clients homes. It does very well. At that price its almost worth getting a second one.

I found a place online that makes custom filters. I can get a re-usable, washable filter made for about 20 bucks. If I do that I will report how it does.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks sir! I’d really love to hear how those filters do. I wasn’t sure if the one I bought came with the filters so I bought the two just to be sure.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Pure quality for the shop Chris good job bro I’m glad to hear MM found U a great price.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

if i would have a basement shop – i would go for that system too.

but right now, i just hit one switch; the one my garage door and the air gets cleaned 😛

comp56Member since Sep 2014

ya we have almost the identical unit here local for about $30 more and wondered about getting one too, seeings I have a basement shop now too…..I would run it direct out side as I have done that with my dust deputy/ shop vac and it seems to make a difference…….might be placebo but still

You should be able to take some sheet metal and make something up or just take your measurements to a sheet metal shop and have one made for under 40 bucks.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks Carroll! I hadn’t thought of that, what about dryer coil or is that too small a diameter?

regopitMember since Feb 2013

It should work. You might have to extend the plenum out some befor you start to reduce it down to fit the dryer vent.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

I think I could probably do that I’ll post it when it comes in and do the research. Thanks Regopit I really appreciate it!

overanalyzeMember since Oct 2011

Hey Chris, A 4″ round sheet metal pipe is a bit undersized for what the filter can output on high. 6″ would be better if you have that option.

Here is a quick reference for different duct sizing and cfm ratings.

Dude! awesome! Thanks for that 😀
ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Also, according to Grizzly, I should have this Monday next week….ahem ahem….I think I have a cold coming on….;)

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

thats a great airflow / duct list.

hopefully its gonna work out for you chris

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

No doubt Madman, I’m stoked dude. I’ll figure out a direct vent, I left the dryer vent in the wall just for a DC so….

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya thats the best what you can do

NERemodelingMember since Aug 2014

Chris, throw “rectangle to round duct” into google and see what it comes up with.. you might be able to find something off the shelf that will work for you.. home depot and lowes should have some stuff also.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Thanks John! I’ll do that right now!

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

Chris did you receive the unit yet ? And is already up and running?

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Hey Madman….it came in last Monday! I have not hooked it up. I’ve got a commercial electrician coming in Monday adding a box to my service, and running lines up to the bedroom remodel and a bunch or lines in the sop. I’d add the lines but it ,eans going in the box. Chris don’t go in the box. Permanent Afro. No thanks. Anyways, I’ll be doing an unboxing video and the setting it up hopefully next week.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya with the box i kinda have some respect too…. 😀

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Freakin’ thing scares the crud outta me. I wired my old shop but it was easy, I didn’t have to go behind the panel.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya wiring the garage / shop, changing breaker – easy…..but as soon as the wires go bigger like the incoming one towards the panel…naaa, thats going to hurt to much when you do something wrong lol

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Hey I just checked the link. The DC is still on sale! And my purchase was flawless. I had the extra dust filters within the week and the unit itself on the following Monday. That’s pretty sweet.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

that was really quick…

NERemodelingMember since Aug 2014

I ended up ordering one this morning! I figured for 109 why the hell not

a post on toolguys.Com about a job site air scrubber (for like $1200) made me think this would be a great addition to my fight on job site dust.. one thing customers hate most is you making a mess of their entire house or them having to deal with a fine layer of dust on everything in their house after a remodel.. never mind the health benifit to me and my workers. hopefully this works out like I’m hoping!!

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I was going to put this on the TIA main page as a deal but totally forgot about it. Seeing it back up on the forum reminded me but a little too late

oh the last minute type of guy 😛

great that you bought one too – will definitely help on your job site

comp56Member since Sep 2014

Chris more is not always better, in the winter if your basement is on the cold side….needs furnace heat to be warm make sure you don’t suck out so much that it takes all warm air directly outside……..some places that have this sort of thing end up installing make up air…reason I say this is this will be mounted near ceiling where most warm air will be……

I got to thinking about the something. After looking at some scrubbers on line that I thought were way overpriced there has to be something out there. THats when the light went off in my head. Build a nice rolling cart to set the Grizzle on top then duct it to the outside.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

That’s a great idea too. E could use it at job sites no problem

comp56Member since Sep 2014

there ya have it…..the portable scrubber…..

My thoughts exactly! I was thinking of something more like the folding Dewalt table saw stand to keep it on though. That way things could be as compact as possible in the trailer.. maybe even no stand, just some rubber feet or casters right on the unit..

If there is enough room in the area were working I’ll rig it to duct out a window to create a negative pressure.. if I have to run it outside the area were working but in the customers home I would probably let it circulate and just clean the air
