I read a little write-up in this month’s JLC about a new radio Dewalt is releasing this year!! I really want to see this thing!
NICE FIND MAN!!! Wow can’t wait to see that I’m gonna have to sell my other one to get this one. Sounds really promising and once again great find!
You have my attention! I just picked up the 18v porter-cable radio for $20 NIB, so I don’t neeeeed one but….;)
The bluetooth and USB charging will be great features!!
I’m surprised they were allowed to leak that. I know and have pictures of other new Dewalt items that can’t be posted for NDA reasons.
That sounds awesome. Cannot wait.
Really? That thing already circulates on the forum here for months… 😉

How quickly we move onto the next subject. Looking back at that photo inever noticed the actual control panel, just noticed tough sound.
Has Dewalt just stopped doing product shows? I’m chomping at the bit for a few tools (we all know that 20v finish nailer is coming), but I’d like to drool over some pictures and dream of release dates.

Fantastic!! I was hoping for a picture somewhere. Thanks Mr. Yellow!! I hope the reception is better than older models.

If I ever went to stafda I would totally wear a body cam and get all the little secrets.
is that one for the tough system? or the Tstak boxes?

Well its called Tough Sound so i would assume its for the Tough system.

Yeah I think so too. The article said it was for the Tough Boxes.
toolnut now has these in stock!
Its for the tough system. Some of the new kits I’ve noticed are shipping in tough system cases which is pretty cool, maybe Dewalt has realized that the Nylon Bag isn’t for everybody

They are pre-order. There’s a Q&A at the bottom. They were supposed to start shipping today. But with my experience with ToolNut, it’ll be another 3-4 weeks before they get them to anyone. That’s what happened with my drywall gun. The web page even said “In Stock.”
I ordered mine last week , I would expect it in the UK in 4-6 weeks , that what the guy in the shop said , the sound is awesome on it !!!

So, how does it lock on the brackets? Anyone knows?

Looks beautiful Mr Yellow! I almost pulled the trigger on it but chose a miter stand instead. It just looks so good in there, too bad it won’t stay that pretty forever!! Oh and how does the sound quality compare to the previous 20V model, does it get appreciatively louder than the previous model?
The version I have seen do no have locks you just slide it in.. But maybe there will come some adjustment ..Mr. Yellow wrote:

You can’t compare the sound.. This will be the best radio on the marked… If you ask me!
Looking forward to it…… Next on my list!
DeWalt

Not my picture. It’s from Rossi7x.
I don’t know about the sound but read a few times now that it must be the best sounding jobsite radio out there.

No locks? Strange decision. Even the organizer has little spring loaded tabs.
There are some weird brains in team yellow [emoji12]

Hopefully I can be of some help…
This Radio (in Europe at least) is a full AM/FM DAB+ Radio Charger… Its IP rated, and definitely has the best sound bar none.. It’s truly awesome…
It also boasts ‘Bluetooth’ (great to bluetooth music direct from your phone) with about a 30m range, and also acts as a USB charger even when using it in Battery mode (any variant from 10.8v to 18v – any any a/h) which was only previously possible when connected to the mains… Obviously the bigger the battery, and the bigger the a/h, the longer the charge…
With regards to any fears over the lack of clips for racking, I can concur that it does (sort of) clip in… the sides of the Radio (as seen in the picture) are completely over-moulded in rubber, so that with the weight of the Radio, friction will basically hold it in place..
However, what the ‘Black and Yellow’ gang have done is moulded a little circular ‘nipple’ which locates into the circular area of the folding arms on the trolley (or in the Van racking if you have joined the club..lol)..
So in essence, the weight of the Radio, coupled with the locating ‘nipple’ on the arms, does mean it ‘clicks’ in the Van… My only concern is that with continual ‘abuse’ you could damage the ‘moulded nipple’ and cause it to flatten and reduce it’s efficiency..
Cue a ‘Mr Yellow’ after market modification me thinks…
Hope this makes sense….
Back to sound…. When we were demonstrating the ‘Tough Music’ at a recent show (the first show n the UK to expo the Tough Music) it was placed in the back of the Van and turned up.. One Guy commented at the quality of the sound system in the Van, and was convinced it was the Amps and Bass Tube installed in the Van that was responsible for the Quality of the sound…It was great to then remove the unit from the racking and prove it was in fact the ‘Tough Music which was responsible for the Quality of sound.. Based on that Demo, people were literally queueing to buy one…
Cheers for the detailed explanation Rossi. I didn’t know the sides are overmoulded with rubber. That should cause some friction.
And that nipple should help. I have to see and feel it in person to judge.
Some clips would have been best, but yeah, it will possibly end up with a modification one way or another haha.
Aside from that, really curious about the soundquality. I should be getting a visit soon from my DeWALT rep, so I hope he has it in his van for a little demo.
How’s the reception? DAB is still a little hit and miss around here. Very depended on your location, but the one complaint you hear the most from previous team yellow radios is bad reception (AM/FM). I don’t have that problem myself, but just asking. Doesn’t seem to have an external antenna?
We just need the tough system “tea station” now

As a tester, I am privy to some detailed and confident information, some of which I can’t divulge..
However, I will just say that the inner workings have been designed in conjunction with a pretty hi end ‘Audio’ specialist, and due to the ‘Lack of Aerial’ that you refer to, there is a very clever receiver set-up that continually scans to check for the best signal, and will switch accordingly to provide the best quality broadcast…
Did I mention that there are 4 multi-dictional speakers on the top, and two 8″ downward firing subs (size is approximate) on the underside that gives that epic sound….
The sound when it was in the show tent as well was the best I had heard on any site radio, and most home systems , can’t wait to get mine

I should not continue reading this topic as I hardly can resist buying one now…
Damn you guys. An hour later and I’ve ordered one [emoji16]
I will need to relocate stuff again. Not going to have 3 radios in the van.

my local hardware store had the Makita battery operated coffee maker on the front desk and well it looks like it will brew a 4-5 oz cup of coffee lol. Maybe if you are out ice fishing than I can see it being worth the money and hassle but other than that …..?
I’ve got a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I just placed my order for pickup. Going after lunch.

Mine is delayed. Should be shipping from DeWALT here as of last thursday, but they don’t get stock for a week or two.
Got a visit from the rep today and he also didn’t have his unit in yet. He did say that if you place the Toughsystem radio on top of the open tote Toughbox, it creates some extra oomph, because the subwoofers are near the bottom. For you bassjunkies 😛

I haven’t gotten mine yet either, it’s killing me. It’s the “tool” I’ve been most excited about all year, haha.
You guys mean, I will have mine before you?! [emoji15] I think hell has frozen over, pigs have flown and the fat lady is singing. [emoji23]
Just picked mine up for $160. I had a $20.00 coupon that wouldn’t scan properly so she manually discounted it 20%.
Awesome, report back after you’ve toyed with it!

I am amazed. I just turned it on on the radio function at the shop and am VERY impressed. It has a decent equalizer to increase the bass, treble and mid range tones. The top lid is a little goofy. When you retract the clips (two per side) it doesn’t pop the lid up and release it. It may just be the fact it’s new and sticks. In order to release the yellow lid, you have to release one side, pull up the lid, then release the other side.
Initial take on the side mounts: there doesn’t appear to be a positive detent or locking mechanism. The weight of the radio and the light rubberized overmold will most likely hold it in place under most driving conditions.
Again, the sound is INCREDIBLE on the radio setting. All my 20v batteries I had with me for the day are dead, so I am charging one up to give it a good test.
On full volume, the sound isn’t distorted at all. Very very clear.
I AM IMPRESSED.
Good bass too? Man I so can’t wait for it to be delivered.

Very good for the radio. When I hook my phone up via Bluetooth, which has a bass booster option, I’m sure it will be even better.
It’s really just an incredible radio. I can’t even explain it. At our company summer party, someone won the big Milwaukee radio and that doesn’t even touch this.

Test it with this and you will feel the BASS… but be careful with the volume;-)
Is blowing up the speakers covered by warranty [emoji12]

Some more points:
Metal pins on the yellow clips that hold the tough system together. [emoji106]
Interface looks nice.
It is very nice. Light up buttons. The center knob is also an “Enter/select” push button.
Thanks for the pics! I forgot to look at the bottom of it when I saw it this summer.
All Home Depots around me have 3 in stock……….guess what I buying tomorrow! [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12][emoji12]
