I own the first generation and I have to say they are my go too hand tools. Lineman pliers are awesome once broken in also the dikes are great along with the strippers. These seem to me like they are a higher quality then previous so i can’t wait to get my hands on them.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

I saw that article too. It’s too bad Milwaukee doesn’t make the, here as opposed to over seas. They look like really good tools though and they still have that lifetime warranty.

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

Will be picking up a couple of these for sure. I have been using the lineman pliers and the tin snips for a few months and love them!

BK13Member since Nov 2013

I didn’t see it mentioned where these are going to be made… If I buy, it will almost certainly be based on COO. If they are made in PRC, I’ll pass. If Tiawan, I might pick up a few. I really like my locking pliers from Big Red…

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

They just look well thought out yet simple compared to the first generation nothing too fancy or toyish looking just a strong built tool. I’m gonna get the linemans first and take it from there

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

If I had to guess BK, I think they are made in Taiwan. I really want to give em a try but with the UTB I got this Klein Linemans and those are some really nice pliers. I’ve been using them in the shop quite a bit. I know they’re pricey but…..now to the needle nose ones. I am sure these are great though, I played around with the first batch at HD and they really feel solid.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

Honestly I have kliens that I recived from 134 through school, they are the journeymans edition and I liked them they worked great but the Milwaukees had an extra half inch or so to them so cutting leverage was better making it a breeze to cut temp lighting and 8 gauge wire ect plus in a pinch they all had reaming heads on the the strippers were nice due to the needle nose pliers, made easy work of fishing wires through the conduit of it was stuck at the connector that was no issue. Just all around I feel like they were better then my kliens. Plus I didnt have to carry as many tools which saves my shoulder and hip. The only tools that I wasn’t sold on we’re the adjustable pliers they were okay but I could still get by with my channel locks and they felt lighter in the hand and not as wide.

Punda, Your and IBEW 134 guy? What shop do you work for?

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

Yes Hy-power electric. How about you?

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

I am a foreman for Northwest Contractors. We do a lot of work with 134 guys, mainly Hartmann Electric. I have heard of your company while working in the joliet area (power plants)

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

Nice, yeah the shop is in new Lenox over there so that makes sense. I’m fairly new to this Union alittle over a year.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

That’s why I need the tool bag give away!!! Haha

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

I finally picked up the linemans and the adjustable pliers 6″ and 10″ and everyone will disagree but they feel and look nicer then my kliens. I’m kind of pumped to use them tomorrow to see if they stand up to the everyday job. If they do ill be grabbing the needle nose and the dikes over the weekend!

I picked up the Milwaukee diagonal pliers a few weeks ago, and I can say that they are everything that I expected of them to be. Cutting cable, wire, nails, bolts, pulling nails and staples are a piece of cake tasks for this tool……. And…. there’s allways a “but” 🙂 because of the nose designed for nail pulling, i can’t use them for precision tasks such as cutting wires in electrical boxes. Anyway I love these pliers. I think I’m going to pick up the 6in1 combination pliers next.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

I’m talking about the new ones that were released about a week ago! Those were the older versions the new ones have an all red insulated grip and all I can say is Ive used the f$&@ out of these pliers the past two days and Milwaukee knocked it out of the park!

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

Good to know, I am under the assumption that they are much cheaper than the Klein tools too? Klein (while great) is expensive in my opinion!

Yeah they are cheaper, but it’s not even the price that sold me on these. They are real work horses and get the job done. Plus everyone has klien and it’s easy to mix it up on the job site. I just think they are well made and the functionality of them is priceless. But also a good point they are cheaper.

I just used some of the new Milwaukee snips on a job that we were framing with metal studs, they worked great!

They are awesome, I have had my straight yellows for a while now and they rock. I cut a lot of metal Studs and they keep going strong. I just received the 3-pack in the mail yesterday!

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

I have them aswell and they are nice but the lock kinda pisses me off lol

Northern RebelMember since May 2014

Yeah haha that lock does come undone pretty easy especially if you’re putting them in and out your toolbelt all afternoon long

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

It does come undone pretty easy but I like it WAY better than the lock on the Wiss snips. Those tend to get bent and I would just get rid of them completely

PeteWMember since Aug 2014

does anyone have the Milwaukee wire stripers i saw them today and want to pick them up?

Just noticed your avatar. That’s funny! Used to work with a guy from Wisconsin. They’re a different breed…

A different breed for sure. I live in northern IL about 30 mins from the Cheese curtain. My wife just took a job up there and the stories she has just in the past couple weeks makes me shake my head. Haha no offense I love Wisconsin

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

I have the linesmans, needle nose, side cutters the strippers with the metal latch, the channies 12″ 10″ and the 6″. All my go to.

Punda1991Member since Dec 2013

These are the new ones not the older models

WeldfabNeilMember since May 2015

I have one the locking pliers an eight of locking c clamps. The new millwakees are better then my Irwin ones I bought just a few monthes before the millwakees came out.

The fact I can put n a screwdriver in the end to tighten versus just a knob makes them a lot better.

I was in the market for new pliers a few weeks and and I went to the local hardware shop and I compared the Milwaukee and the Knipex, I had to spend the extra to get the Knipex they are super well made and great to use  Their Pliers Wrench is my next buy.

Sorry PeteW, I just read this post. I bought the Milwaukee Strippers and they work great. They feel really solid in your hand. I actually smiled after using them to strip some wires because I was so used to using old hand me downs. They can also cut 6-32 and 8-32 screws to length. They can ream conduit and have a nice needle nose plier shape. You should pick them up, you will not be dissappointed

I have the Knipex pliers wrench and cobras. They are so nice!!

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I have the cobras and they have an insane amount of grip. I haven’t tried the pliers wrench though.

pmiller383Member since Jul 2014

The pliers wrench is a pretty handy tool. I do a lot of handyman type work over at my girl friends parent’s house and it’s nice not having to take a whole set of wrenches with me whenever she needs something fixed.

On a separate note I picked up a pair of the milwaukee 6 in 1 Linesman pliers on clearance at my home depot a few weeks ago for like $12. I’ve been using them a lot at work while running some data cabling and so far I like them a lot. The grips are a little weird to get use to at first but they are pretty comfortable in my hands now.

Taylors ToolsMember since Mar 2014

I want to get my hands on some more of their hand tools, I have their wire strippers, 11 in 1 and straight cut tin snips. Ive been using them for over a year and no complaints except for the tin snips grips are just held on with double sided tape and one grip keeps falling off. But besides that I cant complain! I cant wait to get more!
