I would love to learn more about these types of batteries! How do you know when you can’t recharge them anymore, and are they dangerous if a irresponsible user just leaves them out in the heat or cold?
Actually we have a whole article dedciated to Lithium Ion batteries that covers these questions, plus more. You can see the article here – Lithium Ion Batteries
Lithium batteries are pretty straight forward. Yes some of the older batteries had problems, but as techology has gotten better, we see less defects. I will store them in a c ool dry place and not leave them in the heat or cold for long periods of time. You know when you can not recharge them when they don’t work in the tool anymore.

I was actually told by someone that when a lithium battery has pretty much reached the end of its life span (the point when it can no longer hold a charge for very long, if at all), that you can actually put the battery in the freezer, and it will bring back some of its power retention.
Is there any truth at all to this?
I heard the same thing, but have never tried it. Anyone every try this? I bought my first Lithium set not too long ago. Once the batteries wear out i will give it a shot. this si somethingthat should be on Mythbusters.
Here is a another great article that breaks down Lithium Ion Batteries. It weighs the benefits and disadvantages for you. It has great information and is pretty interesting.

There is no problem with Lithium Ion batteries .. 😥
I bought my first Lithium tool kit and like it a lot. Very light and they last a long time.
