So, ever since Makita released the X2 Chainsaw XCU02Z (formerly HCU02ZX2) I have been eyeballing it. Everywhere listed it as $369.00. Too expensive, especially considering I already own a gas saw. The other day I was on the HD website and I looked it up and they are selling it for $199.00! Sweet. i ordered it and it shipped today. Should be here by Monday. I can’t wait to put it to use. Now I just need to get my hands on a couple 5.0 batteries.
nice man congrats! post sum pics of that bad boy when u get it.
Hopefully the batteries don’t set u back on the savings. Congrats and need pics.
out of stock! come on!
Crap! Outta stock still!!!
Chris r u jumping on the bandwagon. U would think with all your local deliveries, that u would have your handful. Lol
A chain saw is a chain saw Chad!
Yeah I have a couple of chainsaws
I’ve got the electric one I crack my head on last summer! I really should get a gas one and not a battery one. You know….because of my safety record 😉
M80 how do you like the new chainsaw?
I would like to hear how it is also.. i have been considering it for a while.. i dont use a chain saw all the time on the job but i do use one enough to keep a small gas saw in my work trailer.. i would prefer not to have to keep the saw and the gas in the trailer..
For anyone still interested in the same deal M80 got check out http://www.ebay.com/itm/Makita-XCU02Z-36Volt-12-Chain-Saw-NEW-HCU02ZX2-Cordless-18V-x2-Chainsaw-/400881546123?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d5666f38b
I have bought a bunch from this seller and have always been very happy. He is the go-to for Makita for me and he has a ton of other stuff too.
To be honest, between the massive amounts of snow we have had up here, and lots of overtime I have worked this winter, I really haven’t had a chance to put it through it’s paces yet. I let you know after I give it a good workout. Should be soon with the weather turning.
cool, looking forward to it!
Yes, please let us know how it works out for you, I’m thinking of picking up this bad boy as a bare tool one of these days, and thanks for that link John
Thanks John! I’m thinking that might actually be a spring purchase. I’m thinking about maybe trying the Makita brushless circular saw or the 7-1/4 first but that chain saw would be a much needed tool in my little postage stamp part of the world.

decisions decisions!!! too many great tools 🙂
Hey M80 what batteries are you running? 3.0 4.0 or 5.0?

Same question John, what size batteries are you running? Also how do you like the x2 vs the brushless saw?
ChrisK1970 wrote:

I have two 3.0 and two 5.0. I also have the dual port rapid charger (DC18RD).
Where’d you pick up your 5.0s? Ohio Power Tools or some where’s else?

I have 9- 3.0ah and 5- 4.0ah right now.. I haven’t really found a need to buy any 5.0.. I have several single chargers just got the dual charger and they charge so fast that I’ve never really been stuck waiting for batteries.. we can go battery crazy all day long and be good.
The xsh01 dual battery 7 1/4 vs xsh03 BL 6 1/2… hummmm. They are both excellent saws and have tons of power.. I don’t know if I’ve used the Xsh03 enough yet to give it an accurate review but initial impressions are great.. the xsh01 has loads of power for a cordless saw and feels great in the hand to use.. the lack of an led and rafter hook ding it a few points in my book.. the Xsh03 feels like it has plenty of power but I really haven’t put it through a good stress test yet.. love all the features on the saw. Battery indicator, rafter hook, led, size and weight etc..
since I got the Xsh03 we haven’t even taken the xsh01 out of the trailer.. I would say if I could only have one I would go for the Xsh03 BL 6 1/2
Thanks John! Haven’t decided on the Milwaukee or the Makita but that Makita looks awesome.

gotta go Makita.. In my opinion they just make really good quality tools.. i have only had one issue with one of my makita cordless tools over the last 7 or 8 years and it was within warranty.. fixed hassle free.. all my original tools from back in like 08 still work great and have had a rough life on the jobsite that entire time..
plus.. you gonna let that new jigsaw and dual port charger be lonely?? thats just cruel 🙂
if you want to not ever have to rely on your hypoid then go for the X2 saw i doubt you would ever touch your hypoid again if you went that route.. if you want light and most conveient 99% of the time then the BL saw is the way to go.. if you ever needed the extra blade capacity or maximum power your just gonna have to drag out the hypoid.
Hello, I saw I was mentioned in this thread. We have been selling the XCU02Z for $199 for a few months now, you could have gotten it earlier! It’s a great tool. I just used it to cut down a few trees behind the warehouse last week. I tried to take a video but it turned out all blurry.
Just to let you know, Makita is releasing a new Brushless 36V (18V x2) Blower, XBU02Z and a new Brushless 36v (18V x2) String Trimmer with 1,200 more RPM than the XRU04Z trimmer next month. I will have them just as soon as the first shipments leave the warehouse.
If you have any questions about Makita tools, let me know!

Awesome, I’ve been hoping the blower was coming out here soon, since I first saw it on the Japanese Makita website.

What would something like that run? Real gold (I assume not…)?
Anyway, that’s probably the model I would get (not the blingtastic version…) with the batteries and charger. What batteries comes with it? I can hope for the 5 aH with the fuel gauge… LOL I’m sure those don’t come in the kits.

If it were made of real gold, then it would be the ghost of all jobsites!
The XDT09Z is Makita’s newest Impact. It is also the quickest, strongest and smallest. It is a Slim Brushless Impact with 3-speeds and Quick-Shift Mode. Here is the size different between the XDT09Z and the XDT01Z. [External image (i.imgur.com), not copied]
For prices, just PM me.
Hey hey!! Welcome to TIA (officially)Bishoptools wrote:

Guys… as I have said several times before, Bishop Supply is a great place to buy tools.. that’s where u have been buying all my new Makita stuff but they sell quite a bit more than just Makita. They ship super fast and from what I’ve seen always have the newest tools the fastest and at the best prices!!
Check them out over on their ebay store. http://m.ebay.com/sch/bishoptools/m.html?_pgn=1&isRefine=true
Or better yet their website (which is undergoing a remodel and shold be much different later this week so check back
I honestly have no affiliation with them, I first found them on ebay and have been ordering tools from them for a while now.. great service and prices!! What’s not to like
Well I almost bought the Makita XSH03Z tonight John because the site showed a 175$!!! I wen to pay for it and it’s 199$ again 🙁 probably a spot sale but I checked back after a while and now it’s back to the original price. I’ll keep a hard look out!
Good to have you here Bishop ^^ I’m all about giving good Makita advice to the guys here but I cannot sell those american/canadian people anything from here in Belgium … and that’s where you come in 😀
I got my xdt09 from bishop the day it came out… I’ve been loving it.
It is crazy fast compared to my old impacts and its so compact
I’d probably go for one of those gold ones!!

What site was that? Bishop??
Yeah it was Bishops. He ended up emailing me through eBay explaining what had occurred. Data entry problem or something like that, it was an accidental price. Truthfully I’d buy it now anyways but I didn’t want to drop two bones right now! I gotta pay off my last purchase 🙂NERemodeling wrote:

Thanks John. No sweat here, he contacted me back right away and that shows a lot. For $200 I don’t disagree either. I’ll wait and here some more reports back but I am aiming for this guy as I was the chainsaw for spring cleanup.
My XCU02Z chainsaw is on order and will pick it up next week…….. Can’t wait to try it out…..
I’ve got mine coming tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I think as I’ve got a job for it right off!
As for the XSH03Z saw…
@toolpig on Instagram posted a nice video clip comparing the old brushed model to the new Brushless model here: https://instagram.com/p/1djlb3ux0d/
We set a new permanent price of $179.95 just fyi 😉

Chris, it’s a great chainsaw, I have never owned a chainsaw before so I can’t compare, but this is a great tool. I got a lot of projects lined up for this beast
Thanks Mikey, planning on some pretty thick dense bush removal namely a flaming bush that does in my front yard. 8″ diameter and pretty dense.
You gotta make a video of that Chris
Will do Mikey! It’s gonna end up coming Monday 🙁 But I’ll definitely shoot a video this is going to be great helping with a landscaping structure I’m going to build this early summer (pergola) for cutting lap joints (hopefully)
I haven’t given up on you yet sir! I’ll probably get it towards July, can’t wait to try it out!Bishoptools wrote:
